Depends if they want TiVo to appeal to a specialist market or to the mass
market. Kevin & Tracy Average won't want DVD recording.... but if it was
a bolt on extra, then that would appease the more technically minded.
However, if they want a niche market instead, then why not.

I don't think that adding DVD recording to a TIVO makes it any less niche
market than it already is, quite the opposite in fact. It is probably a
feature that Kev & Tracy are more likely to recognise since standalone
dvd recorders are commonplace on the high street. Even Kev & Tracy's
favourite electical outlet - Argos - sells them.
