Which direction to point aerial based on Postcode? by Fred
Is there a website into which you can type a postcode and it will let you know which transmitter to point the aerial to, giving a compass bearing from that postcode? Many thanks

"Book Me" +green dot. by David[_9_]
At 12:59 today Freeview 101 BBC1 HD from Emley Moor during promos before 1pm news at the top right hand corner of screen "Book Me" followed by a Green Dot appeared for a minute. What is this message please? I got it at the same time yesterday and it stayed on until I disconnected the mains for a few minutes, nothing else I tried would get rid of it.

Luxor LCD TVs by Paul D
I've been looking around for a 23 inch Freeview LCD for my mother. On browsing the Empire Direct website I've found a brand called Luxor, which I've never heard of. There's nothing on the net about them and they are only sold through Empire. However, their 23 inch freeview TV is around 100 pounds cheaper than the equivalent Toshiba, which I was planning to buy! The Luxor costs only 375...

Switch off at the socket? by alexander.keys1[_2_]
There have been a lot of comments recently about the waste of energy due to appliances being left on standby, and various gizmo's that are on offer to turn them off automatically, or otherwise purporting to save energy. What everybody seems to be forgetting is that an energy- saving device comes with most UK socket outlets, it's called a 'switch', and when put into the 'off' position, power...

Clarkson censured for 'bit gay' car gibe by Agamemnon
****ing loonies. So its perfectly alright to have John Barrowman inviting Andrew Lloyd Weber to shove his cock up his arse and bend over for some more on the Jonathan Ross show, as if that is not offensive to Christians, Muslims, Jews and the majority of the public who consider anal sex to be perverted, but not this. Another pile of BBC DOG **** by Agamemnon
Further to my last complaint about the DOG **** on Torchwood, this is what I got from the BBC. "Thank you for your email. I recognise that you don't agree the policy on DOGs, and I won't bore you with repetition or further statements or arguments on the subject. However this contact - as previous ones were, is logged as a complaint about DOGs.

Ross HD receiver firmware by John Legon
Having guessed that the hardware in my Ross HD satellite receiver is the same as that used in the Telsky S 220 HD, I thought it would be fun to download and install the firmware revision for the Telesky box from the telsky.de website, to see if there were any advantages. It turns out that the version number 1.0.6 is the same as that of the current Ross release and the GUI is very similar, but...

Disabling Unused Analogue TV Tuners - Samsung by Adrian C
Friends have just bought a new Samsung LCD television. (Series 4, LE32B450). Nice picture. I've noticed a little problem with it's builtin tuner setup. It has both analogue and digitial tuners arranged so that if ye press "1" for BBC1 you first get the digital (DTV) BBC service, and then if ye press "1" a second time, you get the analogue (ATV) BBC service. Sometimes it's showing ATV first,...

Did I not explain it very well? by Bill Wright[_2_]
Last week I advised a customer as follows: Your terrestrial reception is very poor. I can replace the aerial with a better one, but I can't give you a 100% guarantee that reception will always be perfect. I suggest you go for Freesat. We discussed this at length. The next day, I installed Freesat for him. Today he rung to complain that although reception on the Freesat box was

Talking Pictures TV HD channel 81 on Freeview by madge
Combined minds The Radio Times last week and this week mentions this channel but a retune on my Samsung HDTV it is not showing up. I receive my signal from Dover should I be able to view it yet? The usual HD channels are there at the 100's why did they not assign this channel a a number in the 100's? Thanks in advance -- My Kindle/Mobile links page | All Kindles | http://goo.gl/ySe0d

Humax PVR-9200T - new software by Max Demian
A new version of software (1.00.23) is available for OTA download on the Humax PVR-9200T until 9am this Friday. It fixes the problem of slow response to commands from the remote and front panel which many people have experienced since the last major retune (30.09.09). Also, the EPG is saved to HDD when you switch to standby, and reloads it in about half a minute when you switch out of...

Ham radio Interference by Dave H[_4_]
I have a Ham Radio enthusiast living some 200 yards away with a big set of aerianalia. When he turns this in my direction and talks to his contact, my picture on Sky jumps all over the place to the extent it is unwatchable. Just like having the vertical hold set wrong. The sound on my amplifier also cuts out when he is talking. Sky box is connected to a video recorder by scart and then to...

Panasonic TV fault today by Andrew Gabriel
Had a call from the parents saying their Panasonic Viera TV has developed a fault. After about 10 minutes, it flips to saying "No service", which is what would normally happen if you pull out the aerial. However, another digital TV shows the aerial signal is fine. Once it's gone "No service", it stays there until you change channel, and you can then change back immediately and the original...

Drop-outs when planes fly over: would signal booster help? by Clive Page
In general we're getting good digital reception of Freeview from the Crystal Palace transmitter even though we are over 30 miles away, except when planes land or take off from a nearby airport. Of course, planes affected analogue reception a bit as well but this degrades fairly gracefully. In contrast the digital signal freezes for a few seconds when a plane flies over the line of sight,...

BBC Have Broken GetIPlayer by Java Jive[_2_]
http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/get_iplayer/2014-October/006240.html quote The BBC have removed the programme data feeds used by get_iplayer, so search and PVR functions no longer work. There is no programme information to cache, and it was the cache that supported search and PVR functions. There is no fix available at this time. You can still download individual programmes via PID or...
