Yes the ceremony was repeated later, but why not run something, rather
than nothing, with staggered starts, on all the channels all the time?

and have quality alternative programmes for those who are totally bored with the
whole thing?

This for example?

It starts to get exciting around 3 hours 37 minutes when it looks as
if the paint is going to run but then the camera pans away...

As someone who hasn't retuned to get all these channels
what does he mean?

I mean the various red button channels were all showing the identical
trailer (of various CGI jungle animals training for olympic events) but
with "Stream 0" to "Stream 8" overlaid on them.

Oh

Like the advert with the annoying loud (not) background music.

Thanks

It's a man running around a track, why the **** does it need to be in HD?

You could apply that puerile argument to anything.

It's not a puerile argument.

Yes it is.

Why do you need HD TV for broadcasting something that you aren't minutely
inspecting to make sure that ever blade of grass is perfect.

You're watching a group of people run around a track to see who comes first.

As long as the broadcast meets a reasonable standard why does every blade of
grass have to be pixel perfect

As I said, you can apply that stupid argument to absolutely any subject
material.
And HD isn't pixel perfect, certainly not as it emanates from the huge
bit rate compression through the TX system.
It's a whole lot better than SD though, which is so bad it's barely VHS
quality in a lot of cases (and that was really crap compared to pictures
coming out of a broadcast TV camera).

Idiot.

You don't win discussions by calling people names

you have to have coherent arguments

Like yours you mean? ROFL.
