the fact that that would require your TV to be able to do it

you could spec it for future TVs if you want but it couldn't be implemented
to work retrospectively


They could use the red button channels for the signed version.

Or the BBC3 channel, which from what I hear soon won't be needed for
anything else.

otherwise it would be a "normal" service

It will become BBC1 + 1 (and not before time IMHO)
