Thomson BIG problems by
Len Cuff
I got a DTI6300-16 from my dad who no longer wanted it. Set it all up
and it all seemed to work fine. I left it in standby for a while - a
couple of weeks (!) as I have SKY plus and was going to sell it. When
I tried it again, it all works fine UNTIL I plug an aerial in!! As
soon as I plug the aerial in, the whole thing locks up and then start
a cycle of rebooting every few minutes. If I...

Help with Toppy please. by
Steve Olive
Hi all.
When something is currently recording I really struggle to play it from
the start. I end up rewinding in 30s chunks.
Dunno why, but hitting 'enter' or 'play' (the two usual buttons for
playing from archive) seems to make no difference.
What's the secret then?
(Using MyStuff TAP and nothing else clever)

...and another Toppy question - recordings I haven't asked it tomake. by
Steve Olive
Me again. Sorry.
Toppy keeps recording things that aren't set anymore, or aren't set at all.
For example, we once had a CT for 'The Simpsons'. It has been deleted
yet Toppy still records them
It also records 'Time Team' and it has never had that set at all.
I've searched the CT's and there's nothing in there sill like 'anything
beginning with "time" etc....'

pvr with two composite inputs for dual simultaneous recording by
Mark Ingle
Apologies if this is not exactly the correct ng for this query; couldn't
find a more appropriate one.
I had been asked to source a digital recording device for a training
simulator that would capture from two thermal imaging cameras with
composite output. One of the requirements was that it needed to have the
ability to export footage in a format (mpeg, quicktime, windows media,
etc) to provide...

Poor JPEG display quality from a DMR-EX77 by
Roger
I've transferred some pictures (as JPEGs) from my digital camera to a
Panasonic DMR-EX77 by putting the SD card into the slot and copying the
files onto the HDD. The picture size is 3648 x 2736 which is big but within
the stated capabilities of the Panasonic. When the pictures are displayed
they look like they're very low resolution or have been compressed too much
in the JPEG process. When...

Silly Idea? by
Clint Sharp
Quick question, is the content of an encrypted MPG stream any different
from the content of a clear stream from a technical point of view? I.E.
could you use a cheap digital PVR to record an encrypted stream without
it complaining and then be able to stream it back via whatever CAM is
required to allow access/viewing? I've got a daft idea rolling around in
the back of my mind s'all...

TVonics DVR 250 (Pre Freeview Playback) by
Norbert Wittgenfeld
I have a TVonics DVR-250 that is now a year old...this machine is pre
Freeview Playback and has a problem in displaying the MHEG associated with
BBC Radio channels.
At times it will quickly decode the MHEG and I get the logos displayed and
can gain full access to the BBCi menu as well as being able to utilise the
BBCi screensaver by pressing 0.
However ,mainly in the evening, the MHEG...

Humax PVR-9200DT, EPG Group 2 & "Series-Link" by
Mugwump
Hello all,
I have one of these bought and it's still boxed. Ihave made the mistake of
assuming this device had some sort of "series link" feature that enabled you
to capture all episodes of the same show.
I've done a little reading it now I'm really confused - Humax seemed to have
talked this feature up at some point, in conjunction with an update to the
Freeview standard (EPG Group...

What PVR features do I need? by
Calum
Looking to finally dip my toe into the world of PVRs, but am a little
befuddled as to what's available/useful/required, particularly for
non-digital usage.
My current setup: NTL (Ireland) analogue cable, which goes straight to
my VCR. The VCR and my DVD player both have outputs to both my telly and
my video sender box, allowing me to watch tv/video/dvd either on said
telly, or on the...

Struggling with my Toppy by
Steve Olive
I know it doesn't do quite what TiVo used to, but I was under the
impression that there was a constantly recording buffer (when enabled in
setup) and that I'd always be able to pause/rewind live TV.
what actually happens is that Toppy just pauses and gets confused. I
quite often then need to reboot it.
I've got nothing other than MyStuff TAP loaded.
Ideas anyone because it's being a bit of...

BTVision freeview dual tuner PVR for £30 (condition applies) - Any good? by
Adrian C
Condition: You have to be on BT Total Broadband...
http://www.btvision.bt.com/vision/whats_btv/whatitcosts.htm
I'm recommending this to a neighbour on spec, but don't have experience
of it myself.
My neighbour (who is not young and has problems remembering sequences of
remote control buttons to record, rewind a tape, change TV AV channel
and press play.... yes, really) could probably do...

Maplin Bareback Twin Tuna PVR - questions by
Deano
Further to the previous helpful thread could I ask if anyone is having
problems switching between the tv and the tuner? My tv remote seemed
disabled once the Nikkai was installed yesterday.
I pressed the DTV/VCR button hoping for a result but since then button
presses on the Nikkai remote will operate buttons on the tv remote.
Flipping back and forth on the Nikkai will eventually see me have...

What PVR? by
Wanderer
I am looking for something but I don't know what would best fit the bill!
My company are currently using a digital PVR for monitoring purposes and the
guy at the control room end of it sometimes needs to "Time-Slip" the
recording at certain points and go back to double check matters in the
interests of security.
The PVR continues to record whilst he does his checks but the operators are...

Anyone tried to clone a PVR hard drive? by
ferrymanr
I'm upgrading my hard drive. To keep existing programs I would like to
clone the old drive using Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image or similar.
PVRs use a totally non standard format (compared to computers) and I'm not
sure if this will work. Anyone tried it?
