Pace Twin by Ancipital

Despite all the trouble I found the twin useful, especially if you have young children to put to bed and your fav soap is on. On the downside was the small hard disk. End of TiVo in the UK? by Shockwave
Humax have announced that they have no intentions of producing a tivo for the uk. A rather sensible move I feel. Tivo was always a bit of a bum product. It was a nice idea but very badly implemented. The picture was crap, the software was full of bugs and the thing was extortionately expensive. Now that the last manufacturer thought to be talking to tivo has announce that they simply aren't...

home built PVR by Phil
Hi, I'm considering building my own PC based pvr but I have one major concern. my TV has RF & scart inputs. I would like to use one of the scarts to connect the pvr to. What kit would I need to allow me to do this, is it simply a case of buying a TV card with s-video out and then getting an s-video -- SCART cable to allow me to control and view programs on the TV ? Thanx

Hi there, I have a HCW PVR250 USB2 and would like to digitize a ntsc vhs tape. I did download the appropriate patch from hauppauge's site, but I still end up getting a black and white picture. My VHS Player def. can handle NTSC-M, my tv too. I chose NTSC-M in the Suite Manager. Has anyone a hint about what I might be doing wrong...? Kind Regards,

Command Line Interface of HCW Audio Recorder by Klaus-J. Eckardt
Dear all, does anybody have a complete documentation of the command line interface of Hauppauge's program Audio recorder? My intention is to start this program from the task scheduler in XP- This works fine by simply starting this recorder but I would also like to let it start recording immediately after program start.

Help wanted with Phantom PVR by biccy
I bought one of these units and cannot get it to work properly with my Hitachi VCR. It wakes up and starts flashing LEDas (after being programmed) as the AUtoview comes up but my VCR just ignores it. I've tried re-progamming many times and differnet SCART leads and combinations but to no avail. Has anyone used one ofthese and can help me get it going ? Mark

Hauppauge pvr 350 radio problems by SF
I recently installed the care in my pc initially the fm worked fine (have it connected to cable) then I noticed that it was not getting any signal and had to restart it several times before it 'engaged' with the signal now its not working at all in terms of giving out anything but hiss - there's nothing wrong with either the cable connection or the signal quality just wondering if anyone ever...

Computer bottlenecks by Richard Brooks
Which change in a computer setup would give less capture frame dropouts at 25 fps and at greater than 640 * 480 frame size ? A hard drive with a high spindle speed ? As much RAM as possible ? A more expensive capture card than a cheap £40 Winfast TV2000XP ? I assume all the above but I want to pick one option first and see the results due to financial constaints.

MythTV and PVR 250 by Mike
Hi Has anyone out there in the UK built a MythTV system with a Hauppauge PVR 250 (or 350)? I had a go myself at the weekend and found it a very frustrating experience. However, contrary to previous posts, the problem wasn't that the installation of the app being difficult. I used Jarrod's guide - apt-get ensures that the installation of the MythTV system (and all dependencies) is handled is a...

Tivo - what does standby actually do? by Jon Skeet
I've had my Tivo for just under a week now (I'm still deciding whether or not to get a lifetime sub) and I'm interested to know what putting it in standby mode actually does. It sounds like the disk is still active, so presumably it's still recording - does it actually do anything significant other than turning the LED off? (In particular, does it still record stuff that's scheduled?) I...

Uninformed question by Andy Pandy
After several flashes and spitting noises, it appears I need to buy a new TV. With the annoyance of increasing ' letter-boxing ' I believe it's called, I clearly require a widescreen but that's the only detail I have settled on, oh and I prefer it to be black which would appear to severely limit my choice !!! Could someone please briefly clarify the current technical situation as regards...

off topic , laptop sound recording by D Mumford
Hello i want to be able to record my guitar onto my laptop , i have the recording software. My sony only has a mic input, i can turn the 20db increase off but still dont get the best sound. Does anyone know of a input solution. I have seen the audigy 2 NX , but that seems to be for playing music back and will cause latency. Is there some other product?

Tivo IR blaster directly into NTL IR input socket? by Jon Skeet
The Tivo IR blaster output and my NTL receiver (Pace box, can't remember the model off-hand) IR input sockets are both effectively mono headphone sockets. The NTL IR box says it has a 5v maximum input, but I've no idea what the Tivo IR blaster output is. Does anyone know if these should work together? I would imagine if they do, it would be significantly better than relying on the NTL box...

Current PVRs - a question of time flexibility by Simon Gardner
How flexible are the current generation of PVRs on timings of recordings? I'm thinking principally of the $kyplus PVR. Can you set it to record (say) the last fifteen minutes of a 1-hour programme every night? Or is it pretty rigid about recording the whole programme - as set out in the epg? What about the DTT PVR boxes - eg Pace twin?
