Default TF5800PVR - suspect disk has died

It was locked up when I started watching this evening. Cycled power and the
"checking files and folders" display stayed up for quarter of an hour.
Recycled power again, and the menus have the disk operations greyed out, and
I cannot get a display of recorded programmes (of which there are several).
Listening carefully, I cannot hear the disk (can I usually?).

I accept I will have lost what is on the disk, but what is the best way to
go about recovering the machine? Could there be a disk PSU gone (in which
case changing the disk will not help).

What disks are suitable?

Is it best to move on (it has been trouble free so far).

I bought it online. Is there somewhere which provides service (in the UK,
preferably near Cheltenham)?

TIA,

Bill

Have a look at toppy.org.uk, I'm sure I've seen help sections telling
how to put in a new hard drive.

For suitable drives have a look at

http://forum.toppy.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10645

though the information may be a bit old, the posters there are very
helpful if you ask.

I've ordered a Samsung F4 EcoGreen 2TB 32MB 5400RPM 3.5 inch SATA-II
Internal Hard Drive - OEM (£90 + P&P via Amazon), and also am having the PSU
re-capacitored (I can verbify any noun).

Fingers Crossed.
