Very strange! by Ret.[_2_]
My wife is a keen fan of 'Gilmore Girls' which is shown on E4 during the afternoons. Because it has adverts she has a 'series recording' set for the programme and then watches it later, or when it has been recording for half and hour or so and she can FF through the ads. When she went into 'Planner' today she clicked on Gilmore Girls that was recording, but immediately a message came up on...

Somewhat off topic.. by Ret.[_2_]
I've just replaced my Panasonic DVD home cinema system with a Panasonic SC-BT735 Blu-Ray home cinema system. Overall I'm very pleased - after a lot of experimenting with the numerous sound adjustments. One section in the instruction manual is baffling me however. Under the general heading of "Making settings for digital audio input" it states:

FAQ: Welcome to Usenet UK by Charles Lindsey
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Until the UK Usenet hierarchy got too big, a regular 'Welcome to Usenet' message was routinely posted to all groups in uk.* With the decline of Usenet, and the increase in the number of people accessing Usenet via Google Groups, it was felt that this informational posting should be...

Sky+ HD Thompson HDD replacement by James Hession
?Hi Guys, Earlier this week I replaced the 300GB HDD in my box with a Samsung 1TB disc from Novatech. Part No SAM-F31TB cost a little under £44. (See http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/dirresults.html?s=sam-f31tb ) After using the copy+ software to transfer what I wanted to keep (everything except the "anytime" recordings), the new disc was 88% free, from about 30% free on the old one. All...

ESPN - Misleading marketing by Bob Lucas
Until recently, BSkyB owned the sole UK rights to televise live English Premiership and Heineken Cup Rugby matches. However, the RFU have granted additional television rights to ESPN. Some matches still appear on Sky, but many of them have moved to ESPN. Consequently, Sky expect viewers to purchase an additional ESPN subscription. I decided not to swallow the bait. I suspect that ESPN...

O.T. Retiring to Spain by Invisible Man[_2_]
We are planning to retire to the Fuengirola area in about 4 years. I recall seeing the odd post here from ex-pats living in Spain. Does anyone know of any newsgroups or forums I could watch to pick up tips for general living etc. We would plan on long term renting rather than buying. TIA for any advice

Sky HD Box u/s after 20 months by bill
Our box is making some very funny noises and we cannot record or access the EPG or anything. Pressing any button other than numbers to change channel hangs it. Wife phoned Sky and the box was reset during the conversation so bang goes everthing we had recorded, not that we could access it anyway, and it didn't fix it. Anyway service man is comming out tomorrow and for £65 we will be left...

Sky 3D. they don't know what they do. by Gary[_4_]
I had a conversation with sky following an email i sent them about sky 3D Sky 3D is 'free' if you have sky world. That means ALL the subs. sports, movies, arts, etc. +HD I hate sports and will never willingly have a sports sub. I cannot get the 3D channel by any means as i don't have the sports sub. The channel is at this time mostly a set of promos and not premium sport. The football ...

tos link by Gary[_4_]
A while ago my DVD player gave up on the surround sound through the receiver/amp . It is connected by optical through a 3 way optical switch. All other inputs worked. I looked at the lead and light was coming out. Must be the DVD player. Today I need to change other connections so i looked at the problem properly. Swapped the DVD lead with the sky box lead. Now DVD works but Sky not.
