Re Sky Plus Box in Spain by Deebrief
We have just the basic box in Spain allowing us to just view the main UK terrestrial channels. If you substituted the old box for say a Sky Plus one, would it record without connecting the additional wire to the dish. I realise to see Sky Plus correctly you need the two wires, but Sky are going to twig when you phone them !! On the other hand I suppose you would get the same result my using...

HD Poor/No Signal on some channels by Springtime
I have been having problems on certain channels i.e. premier movies no signal discovery shed intermittent & some others blocky or non functional. I initially thought that it might be the signal being blocked by a neighbouring tree - on this basis I had the dish moved from half way up the wall to under the eves & a new LNB fitted. There has been some improvement to the occasional picture...

Anytime problems by MC[_3_]
Can anyone tell me if their Anytime is listing all programs. According to the Sky Anytime website, there should be 40 odd programmes today (Monday) but I have only got 15 listed on my HD box. I subscribe to all but the sports channels and I do receive 2 or three new programmes every day but it is also removing other programmes from the the list even though they are not due for removal. I...

Sky maintenance contracts by Ret.
What's the general view on the above? I have an aversion to taking out any form of maintenance contracts because, in general, I consider that you are likely to save more money by paying for repairs as and when they occur rather than paying out monthly for extended warranties on numerous appliances and devices. I think it's also the case that the extended warranty people often exaggerate...

Sound dropouts on Anytime - the solution? by Ret.
I've recently been suffering from sound drop-outs on Anytime recordings (not on recordings made on Sky+). Following the advice on another forum I went into settings/customise and disabled Anytime and then re-booted. That had the effect of wiping clean all my Anytime recordings. I then re-enabled Anytime and began re-building the Anytime recording list. So far no sound drop-outs!

Sound dropouts and picture freezing by Chris R[_2_]
For some time now I have been getting sound dropouts on my Sky+. For some time I thought it was only on recorded programmes, but I now think it's also happening live. It seems to only affect certain channels, comes and goes, and only occurs at night, so I'm guessing it's a signal problem. I've tried rebooting and a planner rebuild. Do I need to get the dish alignment checked? The signal...

Sky Sub on existing box by Mark Carver
Someone I know wants to take out a Sky subscription (Sports plus non premium channels) on their existing Sky box (Pace 10 year old 2200). It's been used for the last five years with an FTV card. How easy is it these days to persuade Sky to provide just the card ? I can't see any mention of the option on their website, but that's meaningless. -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with...

New Card Announcements by Rev Norle Enturbulata, DTS, COD, SPx
...or interruptions, if you will. Samsung SkyHD+ box here. Just got the popup saying the new viewing card was coming soon!, three times actually in an hour, before letting me alone for the evening. Let's hope the Royal Mail as such does better in getting it to us before they all do a power play for more money, again.

No new sky card and killed my box/card by Peter smith
Well this is a bit harsh. I've been getting a warning message on my screen about updating but no new card has come. Today my packages stopped and the card had aparantly been "killed" the lady said. :-/ she said she'd order me a new card, but she couldn't re-activate my card. Gits!

Can anyone explain this oddity by Woody[_4_]
I have recently been given an Amstrad Sky box (DRX400?) Switch on with no card and it gets BBC1-4 and ITV1-4 with no problem, except they all pixelate at some time or other and BBC1 and 2 are unwatchable because of it all the time. It does not get five or BBC News. Signal shows as 100% with quality about 90%. Fit a 10dB in-line attentuator (with d.c. by-pass) and both signal and quality go...

Old Sky box and/or Freeview? by Dave Smethurst
OK, I freely admit to being more than just a bit thick and I apologise if this has been covered before but I need help, because I'm completely confused by the difference between Freeview, Freesat, Freesat from Sky and/or whatever else may be out there. We had "standard" Sky Digital for about 10 years and then went to Sky+. When the engineer installed a quad LNB and ran the new cables for...
