sound problems by Paul Heslop
Has anyone had a problem with sky digital where it can effect ALL channels sound, including looped through RF signals? Recently we've noticed some distortion on audio through tv. It's an old one so I tried to replace it but the new one had a distinct hissy sound. Returned that but now I am not so sure that the fault isn't elsewhere. system entails RF and sat leads attached to Amstrad digital...

New Technical brief issued by Sky by Nathan
A new technical brief has been issued by Sky, briefly outlining the immediate future for the standard sky digibox (non sky+) It is available here if anyone wants to have a look. www.fragglerock.me.uk/digibox.pdf It has an interesting new look, not sure whether the display at the front will keep displaying Sky whilst in use or be like NTL in displaying what channel you are on

Moving Sky box by John Adams
Due to the bi-annual rearrangement of our Living Room, my wife wants to move the TV and Sky + to the opposite side of the room. The original Sky cable has enough slack, but the second one does not. Can I buy a simple extension lead, or make one up (I am OK at soldering )? Any advice would be appreciated.

signing for the non - deaf, quey by iz0nlee
I appreciate that the signing person shown on quite a few programmes is a great help for the deaf but as the vast majority are not deaf can sky not invent a way for us to switch off what to me is an annoying distraction that blocks a lot of the picture and ruins my viewing experience. merry christmas scrooge

LNB - Technetix MK3-GDS3000 by Paul
Hello. I've replaced my faulty LNB with a quad (as Sky wanted £65 to have a look). It works fine, with a stronger signal (about 70%) than before the previous one went wrong. But wondered what the inline attachment is and whether I need to use it now. I guess it is some sort of attenuator or filter. It is 3 cm long, metal and the same diameter as the screw fitting. Thanks

HDD upgrades possible with v3 Sky+ boxes? by Iain Napier
Having Sky+ installed again in the new year. Are we likely to receive a v3 box? The last box we had was a v2 that came with a 40GB disk (or 80GB, can't remember), which I swapped out and replaced with a 160GB for the extra storage. I've read on DigitalSpy the v3's have 160GB drives in, but only 80 is accessible, with 80 being reserved for future use. I was thinking of

Sky+ replaced, new problem? by Hamish Walker
Sky+ (Pace) had been freezing during playback, randomly re-booting (during playback, live TV or recording in standby) and various other nasty stuff I have seen detailed here by other posters. Tried all the usual up to and including reformatting. Phoned Sky, relieved of £65 over the phone, helpful and knowledgeable (yes, I know, but really, he was!) Sky chappie turned up this morning, could...

Sky+ replay by Chris Game
Is it possible to set the box to replay recorded stuff one after the other without jumping back to the planner between items? And has anyone a hack for spooling past the ads? -- Chris Game "...it is important to realize that any lock can be picked with a big enough hammer." -- Sun System & Network Admin manual

My skyplus failed to record stargate atlantis sunday, and we were sitting watching it, AND the red recording light came on! I just checked tonight as we'd recorded csi miami without watching it so needed to know if it had recorded, it had, but discovered the failure. pressing the i button gives us the subject...

The first hint of a major HD advertising campaign by Brendan DJ Murphy
Did anybody spot the subtle reference to Sky HD in the ads during Half-Time in the Chelsea/Arsenal game? It was nothing more than say a 5-second splash of the Sky HD logo. My guess is that around the corner, perhaps just after Christmas, they will launch a huge advertising campaign and announce prices and dates. Brendan
