Sound level on HD box by
Jeffrey Smith
Having recently swapped a Sky Plus box for a Sky HD box, I am
concerned about the sound level which appears to be pre-set into the
new box.
On the old box the sound was slightly louder than the TV and it was
necessary to turn down the volume by a small amount when watching
anything on Sky Plus.
Now the sound level on the HD box is much lower than on the TV, and it
is necessary to turn up the...

Many problems on Sky+HD box by
Peter Pratten
I have been getting frustrated with accumulating problems on the HD box,
most of which are even without using an HD channel. (Thomson box with
replaced PSU and new EPG)
1 There is an increasing amount of pixelation - it's far worse on
an HD channel so I use SD more often but still get some. (no trees in
the way)
2 Several times a recording runs on for hours after the programme...

"Thousands Angry At 'Fuzzy' BBC HD Shows" due to new codec and reduced bitrates. by
Vincent
Just throwing this in here for discussion...
http://news.sky.com/skynews/Home/UK-News/Angry-BBC-HD-Viewers-Complain-That-Popular-Programmes-Are-Fuzzy/Article/200912215497982?f=rss
In summary, in August the BBC started using a new codec which reduced the
bitrate from 16Mb/s to 9.7Mb/s (i.e. 40% less). The BBC has since received
1,500 complaints on their forums relating to poorer quality...

$ky+ box, do they still lock up if HD faulty by
Anti-Spam
I have a secondhand $ky+ box I want to sell, but do not have a $ky
card to test it with. These boxes are not ones I normally deal with,
so need some help please. The box fires up OK, receives FTA channels
OK, shows signal strength/quality on both LNB feeds.
Question, is it safe to assume that this box works OK, I did read a
while back that they lock up if the Hard Drive goes faulty, is...

Re Sky HD Box problem by
Deebrief
Have other uses experienced over the last 4 weeks a sudden loss of picture,
going all green then returning in about 10 secs. This happens once a night
at a different time.
Is the box playing up, if so as it is less than a year old I hope Sky will
replace it ???
Cheers

Channel 4 pixellation? by
Uncle Slacky
Anyone else getting pixellation and jerkiness on C4/E4/More4/Film4 over
the past few evenings? Doesn't seem to happen in the daytime. All other
channels are OK, so i suspect the transponder may be running at low
power or summat.

Would you kindly explain this for me: by
Emrys Davies
I know that Sky HD is broadcast in1080i format but what would happen if
it is broadcasting to a HD Ready screen which is 1024x768?
Also, what would happen if it is broadcasting to a Full HD (1080) screen
?
I am learning and would appreciate it if you would be explicit and name
the various stages e.g. upscale, downscale, deinterlace, 720, 768, 1080i
and 1080p or whatever.

Text / Red button not working on Sky+HD by
Dave X
Hi
I've just noticed that the text / red button functions aren't working on my
Sky+HD box.
Can anyone recommend a fix for this? I've tried switching it off and
unplugging it from the wall for 5 minutes but to no effect.
I have the new EPG if that makes any difference.
I've got a couple of programmes recorded that I really want to watch before

Remote record by phone by
Dave[_6_]
I got a text to my mobile last week saying that the Java application I have
on my mobile to see the Sky EPG and enable Remote Record will no longer work
as of 29/11/09 - and sure enough, it doesn't seem to be working now.
Why have Sky stopped this? It was very useful to be able to set a record
request from the pub (or wherever of course) if I'd forgotten to set my Sky+
recorder.

Sky HD & Sky Plus Set Up Question by
BoB-B
My current set up is a quad LNB dish - one pair of feed to lounge HD box and
one pair of feed to kitchen Sky Plus (total four cables from dish).
Am looking to increase feeds to 3 bedrooms where their will be either an HD
box or Sky Plus. Where can I find information about set-ups/distribution
boxes or the like on the web?

(New) Sky Viewing Cards by
News Reader
Hi,
My understanding was that the original plan was for old sky viewing cards to
be disabled at the end of October. Anyone any idea on a reprieve for this or
new date?
What about those that bought a new or "replacement" card if the old one's
are to be kept operational?

Communal sat in flats by
Peter smith
My Daughter lives in a communal flat and the sky feed i just outside her
window about a meter away easily grabble with something.
I gather its just a case of drilling a hole, threading the cable and an
f-connector on the end.
Problem is she has or had sky plus and one feed is not enough, what can
be done ?
She has been warned shes not allowed a seperate dish, if she has one put
