another Sky HD Q by Jenny
I have a monitor with an HDMI input but no SCART therefore I cannot connect a standard Sky + box to it. If I was to get a Sky + HD box do you still get the SD TV output if the only connection to the monitor is via a HDMI cable or do you also need a SCART connection as well? Jenny

ex subscriber and sky offers? by Bob[_5_]
I cancelled my sub last year. Since sky have been making various offers by post, the latest today is any package half price for 12 months. Are they likely to make any better offers?

compatability issue Sky hd and Philips tv by petetop
Hi We have upgraded to skyhd, our tv is a 32" philips tv. Ever since the new box was installed we have problems with the screen going black every now and then, for between 2 and 5 seconds. Sky changed the box three times and then replaced it with a thompson box. We tried HDMI cables and y, pb, pr cables and same thing happens. It doesn't happen if a scart cable is used. Sky are blaming...

Pace BSKYB 2600CI by Poppa
Hi, I hope that one of you learned people would be kind enough to respond... I live in a block of flats that has a communal Sky feed, as such I thought I'd see what was on FreeSat & bought a Pace BSkyB 2600CI (not sure about the letters now, but the ususal one) from a boot sale, picked up a 10m Ross Satellite cable & plugged everything in. I get sound on my TV, but no picture. I've tried...

Do Sky boxes use search tuning? by Stephen
Does anyone know what happens when a Sky box displays "Searching for listings please wait"? I understand that it gets the EPG from the default transponder, and that it contains channel numbers and names, their corresponding stream IDs, and information about which transponder carries the required stream. But how does it know which transponder is which? Does the EPG contain preset frequencies...

cable options? by Vass[_9_]
is there a flat or smaller bore cable I can use for my two sky LNB cables? I'm re-locating the TV to the other side of the lounge and don't fancy two huge coax cables running along the floor. or is there another way? sender / receiver for example? TIA -- Vass

Standby possible problem by Lynn W
My SKY+HD box goes into standby each night and every morning I turn it back on. Each morning it records a programme for me at about 7:15 pm admittedly the receiver is already 'ON' This morning I hadn't turned it on but when I came in the Recording light was on but it was past the time that it should have finished recording. Turned the receiver on using handset. Turned TV on and noticed that...

"..no listings available" getting worse by Peter Pratten
Both Vincent and I reported in December erratic appearances of the "..no listings available" message. It is now far worse - I am getting blocks of six or twelve hours of this message on all (or rather nearly all) channels. I am not talking about the end of the week ahead where it can appear for a few hours. This makes the (new) EPG useless in places. -- Peter Pratten Please reply in...

Sony Tv by Ken Johnston[_2_]
Have a Sony KDL40ZX1 with a Samsung Sky HD box. Lately been having problems with picture quality, especially recorded soap programs. The faces of people develop a bright red and yellow tinge intermittently, and also the facial features - nose cheeks etc - seem to lag behind when the face moves. As if you could see a double reflection. Even certain scenes in HD programs like 24 seem very soft...

Picture problem with Pace HD+ box by Jeffrey Smith
We are experiencing a problem with our new Pace SkyHD+ box, which we didn't have on rhe previous Sky+ box. From time to time the picture pixellates and at other times freezes then runs fast to catch up. The dish and LNBs have not been changed and are not covered by the warranty. Does anyone else have this problem or can suggest what it might be, as my wife is nagging me to do something about it.

Test your knowledge (it foxed me!) by wrightsaerials@aol.com
We were getting complaints about reception from a couple of the residents at a block of 16 flats in Chesterfield. The flats were built in 1993. I rung the complainers and asked for details. Both were elderly and had 'just the four channels'. They reported snowy, ghosty pictures, especially on ITV. Reception had always been poor, but the daughter of one of them had called round and told her mum...

Beware of new Sky HD boxes by widgitt
Beware. New Amstrad Sky HD box only has one scart socket. No problem, you might think if you use HDMI but as Sky are withdrawing the Sky+ box and supplying HD boxes instead, you might have connection problems with other equipment especially if TV only has one scart socket. You can't now connect a DVD player through the Sky box and use the audio out sockets to supply the sound from both Sky and...

Very strange Sky+ problem by Dave[_6_]
As some of you will know from previous postings I've made, I have to leave my Sky+ box on overnight, tuned to British Eurosport on Sky channel 410. This is so that two Philips DVD/HDD recorders can get their GUIDEplus+ EPG listings. However, for the last two or three days, the Sky+ box has switched itself into record mode and started a 13 minute recording session at 5.35am - olymipc news or...

new epg availability? by iz0nlee
anywhere to find out if, the new epg is available for my machine, or more so when it will be. Tried the manual update but still got the old epg. Sky say I have to put my machine on standby at night and it will download 'when available'. They don't say when that will be, if it ever will be, or when it might be. TIA

Can I get Sky and freesat off one cable? by Neil[_4_]
I have a Sky multiroom package with a quad LMB. I am using two outputs to a Sky+ box and one outlet to a normal Sky box. I want to set up freesat in another room but the dish is up fairly high up and difficult to get to. I'm tempted to split one of the lines in the loft and join you freesat cable into it using a splitter connection. Would this be likely to have a detrimental effect on the...

with sky HD tv goes to digital tv by iz0nlee
I've just had my HD box installed and of course the engineer has gone home, last on hois list as usual. a couple of problems you guys mught have come across. 1) the first thing I noticed is that on HD some of the programmes e.g the simpsons and futurama on sky1HD would never go to 16:9 even though both the skybox and the tv are set for that. They look like 4:3 and if i change the tv to 4:3...
