A DOG's life by
George
If we have to have DOGs (and I assume we do, since the Powers That Be
seem resistant to appeals to remove them), all channels should take a
lesson from BBC HD.
The DOG is faint enough to be barely noticeable except on the plainest
of backgrounds. With a busy picture, it virtually disappears.
I think DOGs and other screen clutter (such as animated, multiple,
and/or coloured DOGs; squashing...

Freeview in Switzerland by
paul nicholson
Does anyone know if a freeview box connected to a Sky dish would work in
Switzerland? I cancelled Sky 6 months ago and now "only" recieve free to
view channels. I know someone back in the UK who has the exact same
situation as me and he told me that he bought and hooked up a new freeview
box to his Sky dish and now gets more channels and even some in HD. Would
the freeview box work in the...

Sound delay on Sky box( and maybe others) by
Gary[_4_]
I have a 2 year old Pany Plasma with Freesat HD. I use a Sky HD box .
My TV sound is via HDMI and i use a Kenwood AV amp for 5.1 etc
The Phono sound from the sky box is sent to the TV in the Kitchen and a
little Amp for good sound.
the two amps sound good together.
Because of the delay on the TV the sound echo's if you have on the Amp
sound and the TV sound at the same time. As the...

Sky HD vs SD - initial opinion by
George
Just installed a SkyHD box to replace my Sky+ box. Main reason was that
the Sky+ box kept freezing on playback (although never on record). The
free self-install option looked to be a cheap way to replace the box -
Will cost me £120 in the first year after which I might downgrade to
lose the HD channels.
Our TV is a Panasonic TH-37PX70B, which you will realise is a 37" model.
It has a...

Sky Player by
Lynn W
For a while now I have been having trouble with Sky Player. Each time I
logged on to Sky Player to watch something which wasn't very often it kept
re-registering my computer. I only ever watch Sky Player with the one
laptop it is the only computer I have. It is a macBook if that makes any
difference, tonight I went on and yet again it registered my laptop and but
also said that I couldn't watch...

Sky+HD free by
George
Following a post in this forum recently, I phoned up the nice people in
Sky on Sunday 23 May to enquire about the no-cost (apart from monthly HD
sub) self-install option. Ordered box and it arrived on Friday 28 May.
As we were away over the weekend, I did the self install yesterday (31
May). Mild hiccup when an HD recording failed. Phoned Sky who said
their system was down and they...

Sky News vs Sky News HD by
Steve[_20_]
So whats the score? Is there anything different between Sky News and Sky
News HD, apart from one being broadcast in HD format?
Do the programmes vary?..... Or is it a completely different channel with
completely different presenters and news format?

HD through RF connector? by
Guess who?
If a HD receiver has an RF output, will a HD television connected to
it, give a HD picture?
Do the current $KY HD Digiboxes have an RF output?

Buying a sky HD+ card and box for use abroad by
tolgan
A relative in Spain is being quoted stupid prices to renew his sky
subcription
I'd like to but a box and card in the uk and get it to him, but sky
seem to be saying that I can't buy a box without having a (free)
aerial installed at my house! Is there any obvious way round this?
Or some other way of getting sky in Spain at non-exorbitant prices?
(I assume that HD+ works fine in Spain if you...

Sky pin number problem by
wrightsaerials@aol.com
A customer who operates a large system with several Sky boxes at the
head has emailed to say that he has replaced some of the boxes and put
the old cards in. These cards either worked immediately or worked
after he rung Sky. However he wishes to access the parental control
options but the PIN number doesn't work. He has tried the last four
digits on the cards and the various obvious options such...

TheDragon[_3_]
I have just recieved a mailing offering Sky Multiroom Lite for a fiver a

All's well that ends well... by
Ret.
My Thomson HD box failed last Tuesday. The screen went blank and when I
tried re-booting the box via unplugging and replugging - the red light
flickered briefly for a short time and then went out completely.
Clearly yet another Thomson psu failure. I did consider sending off for one
of the psu repair kits - but I wanted the matter sorted out quickly and so
phoned Sky.
I was offered the...

Sky+HD (A Grade) ? by
Dominic[_2_]
After a long call to sky, they sold me a Sky+ HD box, without the HD
subscription., for £59 installed (I already have Sky+). Letter came through to
confirm, and has the box listed as 'Sky+HD (A Grade)'. Anyone know what that
means?
I was assuming that I'd be supplied a new (smaller) box - sky did say on the
phone that it would do all the latest stuff when i was available (Sky Player
