Has anyone had their set top box records a bunch of programs which
they didn't set up? I understand it is possible via your mobile or a tablet applet to record stuff when your not in, but has this ever occurred accidentally to someone else's set top box and how would you prevent this happening. Just had a punch of PBS stuff recorded, a channel i hadn't heard of before now. Interesting stuff, but of course that's not the point. Talk about the ghost in the machine.... |

I've had stuff which (what appeared to) randomly get added to the planner that I didn't add. In every case, this has been due to me series linking something that changes its title. One such example was a documentary which was on monthly, but about different things each time. After the episode I wanted to watch there was no mention of it in the planner for 3 weeks, until it appeared again with a completely different name (the subject of the documentary). The remote record function requires the user to log in using the username and password that they use for their Sky account online. So, either it's what I described above, or someone has somehow used your username and password for your Sky account (unlikely). -- Vincent |

I have had instances of a "ghost" taking control of the Sky box, scrolling though the channels and changing the programme. I have never pinned down how this happened, but we have both RF2 control of the box and a wireless sender, and my guess is that a neighbour's remote is being broadcast and picked up on our box. -- Chris R |
