In the past week or so I've noticed that Anytime (often confused with
Anytime+, which only works with the Sky 'broadband' package) listings are also including SBO (Sky Box Office) entries. Sure, it's 'anytime' but for a fee. I think this trend may have begun with the placement of Sky3D shows on Anytime, which, when clicked upon, tell the viewer that they have to upgrade to include the channel as a subscription. What's next, then? The regular (non-plus) Anytime in November had films listed as 'Last Chance' for over three weeks. |

: Last week selected Kung Fu Panda 2 from Anytime (wondering why it was : on there) and it automatically recorded it to the planner. We then : selected play from the planner and it started as normal without any : payment or upgrade request. We stopped it, of course, just in case, : and I later checked our Sky account. As Anytime+ is "pre-encoded" it has been known for it to be wrong. Anyway it is impossible to be charged for a PPV unless the payment screen comes up! |

As far as I remember from before I disabled anytime, programmed from channels to which I did not subscribe always displayed invitation to subscribe. I never saw the point of putting them on anytime. If the idea was to attract new subscriptions, then giving non-subscribers a freebie one-off would be a better strategy. -- George from Cartland |
