My 3 year old Amstrad Sky+ box is always reluctant to add series link on
BBC1. Most other channels are instant, but BBC1 can take 5/6 attempts of timing out before it adds it. Is this normal, can anything be done about it? Cheers. |

Try a forced software update, worked for me when I had no Sky +
functionality on any BBC channels. |

CRT TV with no HDMI socket so new Sky boxes are useless to me. Very reluctant to scrap the TV as picture and sound are superb, and it's only 10 years old ;-) The series link has always been like this on it. |

Well in that case that my suggestion (not that helpful I admit) is that you really ought to have complained to Sky about it when it was brand new and under warranty, if it's always done that. Sounds as if it has never worked :-( I can't understand why anyone who is paying money to a supplier would suffer with such an obvious fault for 3 years, when it could and should have been dealt with by the supplier immediately? It's never worried me enough to bother about it, which is why it took me 3 years to ask. |

The old Sky boxes (non-HD ones) have always been like this. The newer ones cache the series link information so it's instantaneous. The old ones have to wait for the data regarding that specific program to come around on the data stream on that channel. It used to only take a couple of seconds, but due to the increase in the number of channels it now often times out before it finds the information. All Sky boxes, even the latest 1TB one, has a Scart socket. Does the OP not have a Scart socket on his TV? I assume it does as he stated the picture and sound is "superb". Failing that, you can get a Scart to RF converter from Maplin for £30 like this one: http://www.maplin.co.uk/programmable...odulator-33050 That'll allow a Scart output to connect to the aerial socket of the TV. -- Vincent |

Also not necessary! ALL Sky boxes have an RF output! (as well as SCART and HDMI for the HD ones!) |
