Hi Folks
I'm currently subscribed to Sky+HD but due to redundancy I can no longer justify or afford the £32 per month. Am I understanding this right? I can get a card from Sky, costing £25, that will still enable me to view non subscription channels for free, including some HD ones. As I've been a customer for 4 or 5 years is the equipment now mine and I won't have to pay Sky to continue to use it? Will the recording facility still work? Thanks in anticipation. |

Your current card will already work with the free stuff, so no need to pay for card. All you are doing is "turning off" the premium stuff. The equipment is, indeed, yours to do with as you will. However, unless the rules have changed, you will not be able to recieve HD and you will not be able to use the recording facility. Using the same dish you can change to FreeSat which does have HD available. Humax sell refurbished returns via their website:- http://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/prodCat2.asp?cat=Factory which I haven't seen criticised anywhere yet. Their receivers are a bit more flexible and reliable with non-local channels added as "non-FreeSat" than the other FreeSat makes. HD FreeSat receivers are commonly available from Argos/Comet/etc. from about 70 UKP upward. |

MC he can get the free hd stuff - such as bbc hd, bbc1 hd, itv hd, channel 4 and 5 hd maybe too - can't be bothered to take my card out and try...... -- Gareth. That fly.... Is your magic wand. |

As long as you end your contract amicably and don't default on payment, the card you have now will function exactly the same as the one you are contemplating buying. -- Graham. %Profound_observation% |

Misinformation alert!!! With FSFS card (or just a switched off subscription one you can get the FTA/FTV HD channels (includes FiveHD) - and this has ALWAYS been the case! |

Won't you eventually get the repeated on-screen warning messages when the next round of card renewals comes up ? You will yes, but you still would get the messages if you'd purchased a FFS card. However still better to use your lapsed subs card until replacement is required, it's still going to save 25 quid isn't it ? -- Mark Please replace invalid and invalid with gmx and net to reply. www.paras.org.uk |
