Default sky box problem

Evening folks

bit of an od problem. Basically on my old sanyo widescreen tv if I plug my
sky box or any thing like a dvd or freeview or dvd it only shows in black
and white in scart 1. Bu t if I put it in scart 2 it works fine and shows
all in colour ?

I have managed to route a few things through my freeview box to provide
colour output.

Any ideas whats gone wrong here ?

or does this sound like a faulty scart socket on the tv itself ?

To start with the basics.

Have you checked the TV menu settings for scart 1?

At least one of my old TVs had settings for RGB or not and for input or
output or other settings as I recall.

In particular it may be set for S-Video or Y-C input. In this mode pin 20 will only be expecting the luminance (black and white)
signal
so if you are sending composite video to it (as you probebly will be) the chroma (colour) gets ignored.

Thanks Hugh and Graham, I shall investigate this tomorrow when my brains on
the plot and go through the menus, hope its something simple as this.

Fingers crossed, will post back my findings.
