I currently transfer anything I want to keep (music videos, rockumentaries
etc) from my standard def Sky+ box to my DVD recorder by scart. The "Copy" function never seemed to work all that well so I usually do it in real time by putting the Sky box in "Play" and the DVD recorder in "Record" and that works well. You may see from an earlier posting that I'm just about to fit a 2TB hard drive into an Amstrad DRX 890 Sky HD box (not interested in Hi Def though, just the bigger hard drive) but a limitation of the new Darwin software means that (until Copy+ is updated at least) old recordings can't be transferred to the new disk. This means that I'll have to transfer all my recordings from my old Sky+ box (disk currently 50% free) to my DVD recorder before I can put the new 2TB Sky box in place and start using it - and therein lies my problem. As I transfer a recording and then delete it off the Sky+ box, there's always something new to record and take its place, so I'm constantly 'treading water' so to speak. So to my question - can I put my new Sky box in place and start using that, then take my old Sky+ box and my DVD recorder to the spare room, link them with the scart cable, and transfer all my recordings over; or does my old Sky+ box still have to be connected to the dish for some reason to play back previously recorded material? Cheers and TIA |
