So three episodes in a row now, I recorded EastEnders on BBC One HD.
When I play any of these episodes, it's just a blank blue screen all the way through, but the audio is fine. What makes this even more weird is if I Fast Forward or Rewind it, the picture FFs or RWs absolutely normally - thus proving that the picture data is there. But if I then hit play the screen just freezes on the last picture displayed while FFing or RWing. All other recordings on other channels have been absolutely fine. Tried the usual power cycling, planner rebuild, etc. Signals are at 90%, quality at 100% on both inputs. Any ideas what that's about? -- Vincent |

Remove the viewing card and give it a clean, just use a paper towel, also take out the sat dish cables out and put them back in... Also, have you had any strong wind? The dish could be out of alignment... |

The spinning play icon displays fine, as does the show's information and now+next bar. -- Vincent |

The dish could be out of alignment... Thanks. I tried that, but this evening's recording still had the same problem ![]() Dish is in perfect alignment - checked it myself this morning with an alignment meter on both feeds. This is backed up (at least on one transponder) by the 90% signal and 100% quality shown on the Sky box. The thing is though - the data is there absolutely fine, because if you FF or RW it, even at 2 speed, you can see it's all there in perfect quality. If you pause it the displayed picture is flawless. The sound is also there in perfect quality even on play. Something else is interesting... When the BBC did their Comic Relief night, the first attempt at playing the EastEnders segment played with just a blue screen. You clearly saw this on the big screen that the audience would watch as they cut into it and out of it. They realised there was a problem and postponed that segment until later. It seems it's not just me that has the problem but the BBC themselves did too. Why just EastEnders too? Other shows recorded on BBC One HD are absolutely fine. Yet it happened again tonight... Very confusing. -- Vincent |

It's not just Eastenders and it's not just BBC and it's not just HD. We have a standard Sky+ box and it does this occasionally on various channels/programmes. I've rung Sky a few times but can't make the droids understand - well, it IS rather odd isn't it? I'm just so glad that someone else has experienced it - if you ever find out what it is, please post it here!!! :-) |
