You say not big TV watchers, but now you are able the free stations, isn't
the BBC and ITV channels enough for you and you have become a TV addict?

Well channel 5 ismissing fro some reason in th line up and the wee
lass is keen on idea of disney channel , kinda opened a can of worms
paying a fiver for this box !

So far what i have found out is .......

BASIC service with sky is £19.50 ( disney would be extra )
Freesat sky card , one off fee of £25 but no record facilty

If i can find someone with an "old card" googleing seems to
tell me sticking that in for 24hrs might open up some freeview
channels too ?

Please feel free to correct any info !

Just on a learning curve and trying to get max channels possible
for as little as possible :-)

Yes I think a non subscription card will get you CH 5.
As for using a Sky card s/h on which the subscription as run it is fine
provided it a current one, but the downside will be it will get the regional
local programs of the postcode that it is coming from, yes will take up to
24 hours to adjust as you say. This I think makes your best option the £20
one off payment one.

The channel 5 in the Sky EPG is encrypted so you need a card.
There is however a separate unencrypted Channel 5 stream intended for
Freesat reception which you can tune your Sky box to manually, using
"Add channels" in the Serviced sub-menu.

The details you need are
10.773
H
22.0
5/6
Select and confirm FIVE, then you can view it via "Other Channels"

I have the one-off payment card (FreeSat from Sky) - it provides ch5,
and the correct local versions of BBC and ITV.

You could have just the Children's Pack (inc Disney) for the same price,
which still sounds pricey. Adding another pack for a quid makes it only
slightly better value.

This is true.

The stream is Region 2, and is also used by Sky boxes for postcodes
approximately in the area of England and Wales south of line from Liverpool to
The Wash, but excluding London. What's annoying is that without a card, Sky
boxes default to Region 1 (London) that is an encrypted stream, so to get C5
on a Sky box you are indeed stuffed without a card.

This seems a crazy price to start at , its a lot of money , has it been
this price for
long , does it get discounted often ?
