Default Sky to introduce new HD EPG system

Sky is reportedly preparing to launch a separate electronic programme guide
(EPG) numbering system for high definition homes, as a way to boost HD
channel usage. According to Broadcast, the new approach will see the
satellite broadcaster introduce a 'HD Swap Bouquet' alongside its 'Standard
Bouquet' of channels.

The system, due to go live on February 1 next year, will mean that HD
channels can swap positions with their SD counterparts to move further up
the EPG. Sky hopes that the approach will ensure that Sky+ HD subscribers
always make use of HD channels where they are available, rather than just
watching SD versions. For example, the HD Swap Bouquet will mean that Sky1
HD will shift from position 170 on the EPG to 106, where the SD channel
currently sits.

Sky customers will get access to the HD Swap Bouquet if they subscribe to at
least one HD channel. Broadcasters will be able to opt out of the system
before it comes into force, but they will have to contact Sky first.

I think its a good idea!

I think the use of the word Bouquet here is ridiculous

Will this make Freesat able to do the same?
Or will the Freesat people not be able to alter theirs.
( I assume Freeview might well be just as confusing as Freesat too.)

Agreed. Especially as the word bouquet already has a definition in the context
of digital broadcasting; collectively the services carried by a given MUX or transponder.

What else would be really useful would be if the +1 channels could be
placed immediately after base channel.
My problem at moment is that some channels have no signal. Curiously,
some of the +1 channels do have signal eg Watch no signal but Watch+1
has.

....engineer coming. Was supposed to be last week, but he called off due
to snow. I'm sure he said Sky would phone me back to re-schedule visit,
but today when I phoned them I was told it was not the procedure...
