Default Paring Sky card to box

A customer with multiroom asked me to install another Sky+ box for
him..Sky wont install a customers 'own' box probably due to insurance
problems. He had already ordered the card but hadnt provided any box
details. I had thought I would have to pare the card to the box but I
was surprised to find it already fully working after a callback. I
usually have to phone Sky to get the premium channels working. Also
as
a point of interest I tried to play back progs on the planner but
sports programmes wouldnt play back although family ones would (there
were already progs on his planner as they had been recorded before).

Your customer will not be able to replay recordings from any of
the premium channels (including Sky Sports 1, 2, 3 & 4) unless:

a. he/she has a current subscription to those channels and
b. his viewing card has been paired (not pared) to the box.

The callback probably enabled some of the services. However, you
must still telephone Sky to complete the pairing.

I thought that too but the box had all the channels assigned to it
without phoning Sky

I believe there is!!! The smartcard number used to make the recording is
stored in the file. If you play back a recording from an encrypted channel
with a different smartcard it normally fails.
