Default Number on screen

Recently when watching premiership football on SKY1 I've noticed a nine
digit number just above the station i.d. top right of screen. It isn't my
viewing card number and isn't on all through the game. Can someone enlighten
me as to what this is?

Thanks
Dave S.

According to e.g. :-
http://www.myp2pforum.eu/threads/453...n-screen/page2

it sometimes is the viewing card number ("It IS your viewing card
number, well in my case, and i know in another persons case. People
are getting confused between the "serial number" which is a very long
number & "viewing card number" which is 9 digits and starts with a
3."), one suggestion being that it is being done to track streamed
broadcasts.

Thanks for that. The number on screen is nine digits but definitely not the
number printed on my viewing card, so it's still a bit of a mystery to me.
However I don't intend to lose any sleep over it!!!!!!

Cheers

Are the last four digits of the on-screen number a match for your
viewing card's PIN?

Thanks all for the replies.

The nine digit number on the screen bears no resemblance to the nine digit
number (or any other number, for that matter) on either my current card or
the previous card. As far as I can remember they're the only two cards I've
ever had.
