Default Two remotes

On my old Philips CRT tellie I could control everything (including
sound ) with the Sky remote. The Sky box connected via a SCART lead.

I recently treated myself to a new Samsung LED and I find that my Sky
remote will not adjust the sound so that I have to use the Samsung
remote for this.

Is this because the Sky HD box now connects via HDMI and is there a
fix for this without going back to SCART?

Any help would be appeciated.

You need to reprogram the sky remote to the correct TV code.

Look it up on Google or phone sky tech they can tell you how.

Thanks Gary, I will give that a go when I get back from work tonight.

A Samsung TV remote control uses a different code set from a
Philips TV remote control. (You wouldn't be able to use the
Philips remote control to operate the Samsung TV). Your problem
has nothing to do with the HDMI connection.

You (or the Sky installer) would have configured your Sky remote
control to mimic various functions of the Philips remote control.
You have changed your TV, so you must re-configure the Sky remote
control to mimic functions from the Samsung remote control.

Make a note of the model number of the Samsung TV.
Turn on your TV and Sky receiver.
Press the Interactive button on your Sky Remote Control
Press 4 for Sky Customer Service
Press 5 for "Programme your remote"
Follow the instructions. Hopefully, the instructions will
provide the correct Set-up code number for your Samsung TV model.

Alternatively, follow the instructions in the Sky HD instruction
manual.

Two words of warning.

From time to time, Sky introduce new versions of their remote
controls - to provide compatibility with the latest TVs. AFAIK,
the first remote Sky HD remote controls were version 8.
Furthermore, Sky have recently introduced version 9 (which can
accept additional set-up codes). I hope the list of models on
the Customer Service menu provide the set-up code for your
Samsung TV. If you have purchased the very latest Samsung LED
TV, the model might not be listed. If so, you could try other
Samsung codes, in the hope you will find one that works.

However, you can also use older Sky+ remote controls to operate a
Sky HD receiver. Some of the Sky+ remote controls were much
earlier than version 8. If Sky have identified and published a
new set-up code for your TV - and your Sky remote control refuses
to accept that code, then you might need to purchase the latest
Sky HD remote control.

It's nothing to do with the connection between the box and the TV, you
program the remote with the manufacturers codes and it works via the
remotes IR signal.

As other posters have said google is your friend here and you should be
able tofind codes and instructions easily but new a TV may not be
covered by your remote or even a new one.

It is annoying, I went fromonly needing one remote to 2 when I upgraded
to an LCD 18ths ago.

I just encountered the same problem with my nice new Panasonic TV (which
has also replaced a Philips CRT set). Couldn't see my Panasonic model on
the list displayed so I just tried the code for what I guessed to be a
fairly recent Panasonic. Worked fine.

Same process is quite likely to work for a Samsung, I would have
thought.

Did my research and got the code and got it set up without any bother.

Many thanks to you all for your assistance.
