Can someone explain why my wife keeps having to enter the PIN to watch
recordings of ITV 1? This never used to happen, but there was a software upgrade to the Amstrad HD box last week - coincidence or something new? The only time a PIN normally needs to be entered is on the Movies channels, but she has recorded X Factor from Saturday and last night and needed a PIN each time to watch the recording, then the same happened with Downton Abbey. Tel I did not have that problem with the X Factor, and did not watch Downton Abbey. You might need to enter your PIN in the following circumstances: 1. To watch a manual timed recording (as opposed to an EPG recording) or 2. To watch a '12', '15' or '18' rated programme or recording outside the respective watershed times. (The watershed times are 8 pm for '12' and '15' programmes and 10 pm for '18' programmes.) 3. If the broadcaster has allocated an incorrect Parental Viewing rating to the program, your Sky receiver will think you are trying to watch the outside the watershed time. 4. You have turned on Parental Viewing restrictions for U, PG, '12', '15' or '18' rated programmes - or for specific channels. See http://www.sky.com/helpcentre/tv/dec...dren-can-watch - and check the Parental Viewing restrictions on your computer. |

Possible, I suppose but unlikely 4. Never touched the parental viewing as there are no children in the house. However, I have just checked and there are no restrictions in place. Tel |

She recorded Coronation Street tonight to play back later - the 7.30 show was fine, but the 8.30 one asked for the PIN. Very odd. Tel |

Tel I also recorded both of this evening's episodes of Coronation Street from ITV1 HD. No problem with play back - and I didn't need to enter a PIN for either episode. Sorry, but I can't explain why your wife needs to enter a PIN. |

When did this start? I also have an Amstrad HD box, and I've been having problems with manual recordings since approx. 10 October. I have about ten set up, recurring weekly, to record from BBC Radio 4, and "PIN on Pre-Watershed Playback" set to OFF - I started noticing that something was different, as instead of having one "stack" of manual recordings in my Planner I had two, and all programmes in the second stack now require me to enter my PIN. Very annoying. Charlie -- Email killed by spammers - please ask for the real one. |
