So I just noticed this:
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/broadcas...annel-one.html It seems that Sky are dropping Bravo and Channel One (used to be the Virgin 1 channel). That's a shame, there's some great shows on those channels. They say they'll redistribute some of the shows to Sky One, but I can't see them putting Spartacus on Sky One, can you? -- Vincent |

Take over gets OFT / OFCOMM clearance... the next day... guess what... ta da... we are shutting down 80% of those channels we just bought ! Yay ... woo! Good content, channels, enjoyed by many for years... erased / deleted - yay! I am sure most of that content won't be back on any other "Sky" channels either... they had already done their fill of Star Trek and the remainder of the decent programmes they have purposefully ditched as being to "down market" (what they said of the channels such as Bravo and Virgin One [newly Channel One])... hence... if they have ditched the channels as low brow / poor brand target or identification they will not be taking such inferior content to their higher brow / audience channels ( / marketing / promotion mix or targeting, etc.)... Bye bye nice channels and content - lol! I expect someone will eventually set-up a suite of competing channels in entirely the same guise as these were originally but probably not for several years... and then... will they get to last as long as they did when in the hands of a competing broadcaster / television service operator? ... They may well only then get bought up by Sky within a few weeks / months / years anyhow? Only for the wait and repeat exercise again? Who knows? This is probably good news anyhow as apparently Freeview will get Challenge... Takeshi's Castle is worth any amount of sacrifice or loss - lol! : - D Best wishes, News Reader |

DigiGuide has updated Channel One (but not Bravo) to the end of January. Is this a change of mind or a change of name (no new name shown)? -- Peter Pratten Please reply in group only |

Spartacus Gods of the Arena is scheduled on Sky 1 for February. Some Sky 1 stuff like Bones is moving to Sky Living, and some to Sky Atlantic (which is probably what Virgin 1 will become). Weeds and Entourage are both now on Sky Atlantic. This is all in the February highlights documents at: http://www.skyprogrammeinformation.co.uk/highlights.asp although there are no specific dates yet. No signs of life for Sons of Anarchy or White Collar from Bravo returning yet. Angus |
