Default No signal message on BBC channels?

my mother-in-law's Sky box is giving a "no signal being received" message on
BBC and Channel channels. I thought this was a fault - but I'm getting the
same on my box (which we hardly ever use). I've rebooted both - and signal
levels and quality are high.

Is it me or is there something going on? We are near Edinburgh.

I'm in Surrey and last night, the lottery recording failed. This morning I
started checking which channels were missing and found several (BBC 1 & 2,
ITV(1), Chs 4 &5...). I've just unplugged the box to do a forced software
update - hopefully this will work. More later.

It's fine on BBC2 in London (BBC1 would presumably be different anyway)
but there is some heavy rain around - I lost everything for a time a
couple of nights back - so that might be an issue.

....last night, Box Office showed "unavailable. Please TRy later." until
I did a re-start of my Sky+HD box. Lanark area

My forced reboot appears to have worked - all back to normal now.

Vegetation had grown up in front of my dish - enough to let the EPG and ITV
channels through but not (weaker?) BBC.
