An unsupervised learner driver, Mikael Rodriguez, has walked free from
court despite admitting killing a cyclist while turning his car around
at a busy junction. The 26 year-old had been taking a driving lesson
with his mother when he attempted the manoeuvre last October. The
unlicensed driver, from Bristol, had been driving his mother to a
local chip shop. Bristol magistrates' court heard that Mr Bowen, 48,
was taken to a local hospital where he died several days later.

Deptford: Winston Miller Jailed for Torturing Cancer Sufferer

AN ALCOHOLIC man has been sentenced to seven years in jail for beating
and setting fire to a 64-year-old cancer victim. Winston Miller, of
Edward Street, Deptford, drank six or seven cans of strong lager
before his assault on long-standing friend Maureen Edwards. Prosecutor
David Ross said: “After further discussion between them his mood
turned violent and he began to use his fists to punch her in the face
and head.” After pushing his victim back in the chair she asked to go
to the toilet but Miller refused to let her, leading to the woman
wetting herself and coughing up blood. The court heard he then told
her “you’re going to die” before grabbing her throat and starting to
throttle her. He left but returned to the flat later, kicking down the
front door and taking a lighter to Ms Edwards’ hair. Mr Ross said:
“Her hair actually caught fire and she had to put it out with her
hands. She was terrified that he would do something much worse to
her.”
Ms Edwards has since died of lung cancer.

Newbury: Woman Knocked Unconscious by Violent French Groids then

A 21-year-old woman was hit over the head and robbed in Pangbourne in
broad daylight.One had a lock knife and told her to cross the road.
She was taken down a dirt track to some woodland. She was hit over the
head with an unknown object, fell to the ground and blacked out. When
she came round, the men had gone and her cash and jewellery were
missing. One of the offenders was black, around 5ft 7ins tall, broadly-
built, with black medium length corn row hair with beads on the end.
He had big dark eyes and a large nose. The second attacker was black,
very young-looking. The third was black, 4ft 11ins tall, very young-
looking. He had corn row hair shaved at the side of his head with a
circular pattern. It is believed the offenders may speak with a
foreign accent, possibly French.

remote location after picking her up in his car, a court has heard.
Mohammed Imran, of Derby Street, admitted touching the girl, but he

the defendant had touched the girl’s thigh over her clothes several
times during the journey and she had kept pushing his hand away and
telling him to stop. When he stopped the car, Imran leaned across and

Worthing: Violent Knifepoint Negroes Jailed

The Sussex Sweet Shop, in Broadwater Street East, was robbed by Hakeem
Baker and Shane Brown, both 20, on May 6. During their sentencing at
Chichester Crown Court it was heard they forced the shop owner, Brian
Lee Barnes, upstairs to where the safe was kept. They gagged him with
gaffer tape, which they also used on his ankles and knees, and then
stole between £2,100 and £4,100 from the shop's safe, as well as a
mobile phone and wallet.

Milton Keynes: Negroid Animal Brutally Attacked a Grandmother with

Thames Valley Police in Milton Keynes is appealing for witnesses after
a grandmother was assaulted. A woman was walking back from the local
shops in Conniburrow with her neighbour’s grandchildren when one of

dealing drugs. A verbal altercation took place and the offender chased
the group back to the children’s grandmother’s house. The 59-year-old

taken to Milton Keynes General Hospital for treatment. The offender is

to headbutt a young woman. Four Asian youths stole a purse and a

Woodford Green: New details emerge of Vicious Asian Attack

MORE details have been released about a violent kidnapping in which a
man was bundled into a car before being repeatedly cut with Stanley
blades. The 18-year-old victim was walking along Chigwell Road in
Woodford Green at about 11.30pm on Sunday July 26, when a car drove up
alongside him. The vehicle – described as a baby blue-coloured
hatchback – stopped alongside him and a number of men jumped out,
grabbed the victim and bundled him inside. He was driven around the
corner to Albert Road, where he was pulled out from the car, forced
across the bonnet, and cut several times with the blades. Police say

East London: Plans to Turn Victorian School into 8-Storey Mosque Hit
by Listing

DEVELOPERS wanting to demolish a former East End school to make way
for an eight-storey mosque could be forced to withdraw their plans
after the building was listed by English Heritage. Tower Hamlets
council gave the go-ahead earlier this year for the Victorian building
in Bigland Street which is home to the Darul Ummah Community Centre to
be torn down and replaced by an eight-storey building. The centre
which also houses the private Muslim boys' school Jamiatal Ummah would
move into the new building which will also be used as a mosque and
house funeral facilities. But developers will now have to go back to
the drawing board after the former Lower Chapman Street Board School
which was designed in 1873 was declared a grade II listed building.
