Default ITV1 HD in Scotland

This may well have been posted before, but, as I've only just got HD I
would not have read it. Otheres may be in the same boat.

WE, in Scotland (and possibly elsewhere), are unable to get ITV! HD via
the EPG. However, I've just found out that it can be added manually:

Go to ServicesAdd Channels

Enter Frequency - 11.427
Alter Polarity - H
Symbol Rate - 27.5 (default)
FEC - 2/3 (default)

Press Yellow to search.

In results of search, select channel 10510.

Press Select to return

Press Yellow to store.

To view ITV1 HD, you need to go to ServicesOther Channels and select in
the normal way.

Note - no live pause, rewind or recording (to SkyHD disc) is possible
with manually added channels.

....that thread appears to refer to the initial red button access route,
which is,as far as I am aware, superceded (in England/Wales) by a
"proper" channel.

What I don't understand is, if I can access English ITV and BBC channels
from the EPG (and I can), why is ITV HD not avaialable on the same basis?

Remember that ITV plc does not include the Scottish and NI parts of the
ITV network. As the thread explains STV and UTV refused the red button,
so also they refused the channel. They won't have services just because
England/Wales has them. You need to start a campaign to get them to
agree to it.

I think you may have missed my point.

In Scotland, Channel 101 is programmed to BBC Scotland. However, I can
get, say, BBC London on 974. Similarly, ITV London is on 993 while STV
is on 103.

If the EPG allows me, in Scotland, to view other regions in SD, why not,
then, in HD? After all, I pay the same £10/month for access as someone
in England.

You play £10/month for the SKY HD Package.....you would get BBC/ITV/C4/STV
(as appropriate) HD channels WITHOUT paying that!

What the EPG allows you to do depends on the broadcasters! The BBC pay Sky
for all the extra entries which allow users access "other regions". ITV have
never done this - except for ITV1 London which is needed for some
visually described programmes.

....yes, I do know that. What I'm talking about is the £10/month I pay
for the HD package - I don't get as much as someone in England on the
same viewing pack as I have. It is irrelevant as to what I get for free.

What did Sky customer services say when you put this point to them?

....not done that, yet, but rest assured, I'll post a report when I have
done so.

I was merely discussing a point which, after all, is the purpose of
usenet newsgroups?

How so - none of your £10 goes towards these cchannels (which you would
get by paying $0/month!)

Just exactly `WHAT would you expect them to say?????

In this case Sky are PAID by ITV1HD/STVHD to do what they are contracted to!
Sky have zero say in what can be done in this case.
