Default Highly unbelievable, but who knows

I heard it 4th hand, that $KY have been told they have to tighten up
their footprint, to stop oversea's viewers watching their channels,
even if it means, causing reception problems in the UK. Its supposed
to happen June/July. They also apparently, will send out somebody to
every $KY account holder, to check they are operating their $KY
account, at the address they have for them.

That's all of what I heard, so don't ask for further information

Probably nonsense, but if it turns out to be true, you heard it here
first, from me.

How? Sky don't control the footprint of the Astra satelites.

They have no authority to enter any homes, so that would be a rather
fruitless (and expensive) waste of time.

Not only that, CAN the footprint be adjusted? It involves
reconfiguring the shape of the dish and/or the position (distance from
dish if you want to increase/decrease the size of the footprint) of
the radiator on the dish on the satellite. Most dishes can't do this,
and the procedure is very dangerous - if the mechanism jams (bear in
mind it has probably never been used before) you have a useless
satellite. You can easily adjust the position of a footprint just by
moving the dish and/or the satellite's aim.

I can't see that (Sky visiting everyone) being true either. That would
be such a huge undertaking. It would cost them far too much. Think of
the number of re-visits for people who are out, at work, on holiday,
etc.

Oh dear.

don't like what I post, stop wasting all
of our time, and put me in your filters list.

You seem to have an identity problem that might defeat such actions.

I am told that its now apparently wide spread on the internet, maybe
not posted in the format I originally posted (it was 4th hand) but in
essence is true, that they intend to tighten up the Astra2D footprint
to stop oversea;'s viewers watching UK TV.

Has anybody got any real truth's on this rumour, please?

Mark in Spain.
