I heard it 4th hand, that $KY have been told they have to
tighten up
their footprint, to stop oversea's viewers watching their
channels,
even if it means, causing reception problems in the UK. Its
supposed
to happen June/July. They also apparently, will send out
somebody to
every $KY account holder, to check they are operating their $KY
account, at the address they have for them.

That's all of what I heard, so don't ask for further
information

Probably nonsense, but if it turns out to be true, you heard it
here
first, from me.

Mark in Spain.

I am told that its now apparently wide spread on the internet,
maybe
not posted in the format I originally posted (it was 4th hand)
but in
essence is true, that they intend to tighten up the Astra2D
footprint
to stop oversea;'s viewers watching UK TV.

Has anybody got any real truth's on this rumour, please?

Mark in Spain.

The only 'real truth' is that there should be no apostrophe in
oversea's or truth's.

Sky Terms and Conditions stipulate that a viewing card may only
be used at the registered address in the UK. However, Sky have
no incentive whatsoever to prevent overseas subscribers from
viewing programmes. In reality, it would cost them a lot of
money to "send out somebody to every Sky account holder, to check
they are operating their Sky account, at the address they have
for them". Sky don't have the resources to perform checks on
every subscriber and in reality, they are probably happy to
receive subscription fees from viewers in Spain and elsewhere.
It follows that unless Sky receive concrete evidence that the
condition has breached, they will be unlikely to take any action.

As far as the Astra 2D footprint is concerned, Sky do not own any
satellites - and they do not control the Astra 2D footprint. Sky
and other broadcasters merely rent transponders from Astra - who
have no reason to change the present footprint.

Funny, everytime I posted something on this subject, everybody was
ready to jump on me, and tell me what a load of nonsense, yet this
time no replies for over 2 weeks?

Can I assume by your non response, the possibility that you may have
been wrong to jump on me so quickly?
