Default "..no listings available" getting worse

Both Vincent and I reported in December erratic appearances of the "..no
listings available" message. It is now far worse - I am getting blocks
of six or twelve hours of this message on all (or rather nearly all)
channels. I am not talking about the end of the week ahead where it can
appear for a few hours. This makes the (new) EPG useless in places.

Default "..no listings available" getting worse

Your previous post is no longer available on my computer, so I
apologise in advance, if I am repeating previous comments.

The EPG comes from the default transponder. Consequently, a poor
signal from that transponder could trigger the symptoms you
describe. If so, it might be worth checking the various aspects
that can affect signal strength and quality (dish alignment, LNB,
co-ax downlead, etc).

Alternatively, are there any other symptoms, that might indicate
faulty hardware within your Sky HD receiver?

However, your problem might be nothing more than a technical
glitch with the transmission from Sky. If so, there is not much
you can do.

The EPG comes from the default transponder.

Isn't that the one used for the signal test which has a good result?
If not what normal channels are on it?

Consequently, a poor signal from that transponder could trigger the
symptoms you describe. If so, it might be worth checking the various
aspects that can affect signal strength and quality (dish alignment,
LNB, co-ax downlead, etc).

The problem is only with the Sky+HD box (new EPG), the Sky+ box does not
have this problem.

I've done a Planner Rebuild and the missing entries have appeared so
I'll to watch to see if the problem reoccurs.

Alternatively, are there any other symptoms, that might indicate faulty
hardware within your Sky HD receiver?

There are occasional glitches like the output vanishes momentarily
(giving a blue screen) or occasional breakup (PSU has been replaced),
however I don't see how an occasional glitch can produce a long term
fault.

Oh, another fault is I can't get any Interactive services including the
red button channels on the HD box (regular Sky+ does get them). This
was not corrected by the Planner Rebuild.

However, your problem might be nothing more than a technical glitch
with the transmission from Sky. If so, there is not much you can do.

When it first occurred that is what I thought but it has persisted, but
is only on the HD box. If it was Sky (or signal loss) it would affect
both boxes, wouldn't it?

this must be a HD associated problem as I have had the same problem this
morning, HD installed a fortight ago, Amstrad box with the OLD EPG. This
morning I had to power down and back on to get EPG. Came straight back
after the power down. pointless having sky + facility without an EPG. I
also get the stammering of HD picture mentioned in another thread, AND
ocassional drop out of sound just for a fraction of a second.
I think I should have waited longer.

I did get a loss of signal for a short time in the worse weather but I
can't relate the loss of a block of listings lasting a few days while
other listings and programmes are present as being weather related.

At the moment there is a long block on many channels with no listings
from Friday 6pm on, but when I try to find for how long they reappear
and others disappear.
