Default Global-Invacom fibre Optic - Fringe Reception Area's

After some intial problems getting the signal level down to usable
level, we ebnded up with a set up of 1.35 Metre Dish, Fibre Optic
LNB, 15dB Optical attenuator, 4-way Optical Splitter, 5 Metres of
Fibre Optic Cable, 4-Output MDU and a Pace 2600C1 Digibox.

We are comparing this rig with out standard installation package of
1.35 Metre Dish and Invacom Twin Output 0.3dB Off-Set Focus LNB and
PACE 2600C1 Digibox, which we must have installedf very many of these
systems over the years, and they work correctly with no break-up of
any of the BBC/ITV regions, at anytime of the day/year, except when it
is raining Very heavy and the clouds are jet black.

We are getting signal levels of 55 dBmv on the Astra2D transponders
and 70 dBmv on the Astra2A transponders, on the outputs of both rigs.

Unfortunatly we are finding that we get picture break up on some ITV
channels in the early evening, losing ITV Anglia East all together,
later.

My initial thoughts were we should go up a dish size, but this is
problematical, because for us this means a 1.8 Metre prime focus dish.
They are releasing a Prime Focus Fibre Optic LNB soon, but the
increase in dish size, precludes some jobs we had in mind for this
system, because 1.8 Metre, means ground mounted, and not all sites are
suitable for this. Plus we do not stock this size, so for testing
purposes, we would need to buy one in specially.

What are your thoughts?

Mark in Eastern Spain.

My friend in Barcelona is also seeing early evening loss. I presume the
beam is slightly off or the satellite weaves about a bit - they move in a
figure of eight pattern, I believe.

We are looking to replace coax satellite system on 1.9m dish with titanium 0.1db LNB in Spain - with Triax or Global Invacom optical fibre system.

Can you comment on whether the optical fibre LNB will give as good output as the existing LNB?
