I'm currently listening to NASA TV on the web - PHOENIX LANDING on
MARS ;-) It'd be nice to get this on my SKY BOX :-( Anyone know if I can manually tune my SKY box to NASA TV? I've googled around and it's a bit ambiguous - but I'm guessing it's a 'No' Patrick/ .................................................. ............... .. . I'm currently listening to NASA TV on the web - PHOENIX LANDING on MARS ;-) It'd be nice to get this on my SKY BOX :-( Anyone know if I can manually tune my SKY box to NASA TV? I've googled around and it's a bit ambiguous - but I'm guessing it's a 'No' No chance. British people are not meant to be interested in space, and there's no chance of it getting a government subsidisy like BBC Parliament because NASA TV is run by the US government, not UK or EU. We live in the wrong country. If NASA TV was going to be shown on Sky someone would have to pay for it, but the unscientific numbskulls who run things and make up Britain's "opinion formers" don't think there's a demand for a "boring" channel about space, not even if it was a subscription channel, so that's the end of it. Even in the US they keep NASA TV off the mainstream cable and satellite systems, and you have to have a huge "C Band" dish to get it, although it is at least free to air. If you are British, and interested in space then you're in a small minority who don't matter. We're the only country that had a space program and closed it. Most people don't even know that Britain launched it's own satellites on it's own rocket, "Blue Streak" from it's own space centre at Woomera in the British Empire. Today we just make minor contributions to the European ESA programmes, which means launching on a French built, French designed rocket from French Guyana and counting down "trois, deux, un" in French to blast off. If Britain ever gets her pride back and resumes it's space programme with a launcher of it's own like the criminally under-funded "Skylon", then maybe we will see the point of putting NASA TV on Sky, along with a British Space TV channel of our own. But until that happens you'd be better off emigrating to the USA, or getting used to watching NASA TV on the web and counting yourself lucky that the US government subsidises you to watch it that way, even though you're not an American. |

Received this from Sky after making a complaint.
Dear Mr ..... Unfortunately this is an encrypted channel which we do not broadcast. You can however tune this channel into your sky, you would have to refer to google for the frequency to tune it in with, as we do not have this information. I hope this helps with your enquiry. Kind regards Billie Sky Help Centre http://www.sky.com |
