Okay guys n gals I have a Panasonic TX32LMD tv set with sky.
I can use the sky remote to adjust the tv volume and channel number but I cannot get it to turn on sky and make it visible on the tv. I have to use the tv remote to select av1. On my previous Ferguson TV when you pressed the on button on the sky remote it turned sky on and it appeared on screen, none of this av nonsense. What am I doing wrong? Solution? p.s. I do not have m,y sky box connected to the av2 socket on the tv, it is daisy chained through the panasonic video then into the av1 socket of the tv. |

With some TV's there is an option in setup that enables/disables SCART control, so a signal appearing on the SCART when the Sky box is switched on selects the input, also with the video recorder, and DVD player. I have 4 SCART inputs on the TV and it can get a bit confusing at times when the input switches of its own accord. AFAIR there may also be a SCART control option in the Sky box Services menu. |

I do not have m,y sky box connected to the av2 socket on the tv, it is daisy chained through the panasonic video then into the av1 socket of the tv. I am not familiar with this particular TV. However, automatic switching will only occur, when the TV receives a switching voltage through the SCART lead. The first thing to do is to go to system setup / picture settings. The picture output from your Sky receiver should be RGB, with SCART Control "on". There are two SCART sockets at the back of the Sky receiver. The Sky receiver sends the switching signal through SCART output 1 (labelled TV SCART). Check that the SCART output from the Sky receiver is plugged into the TV SCART socket (on the Sky receiver) - NOT the VCR socket. If that doesn't resolve your problem, try an alternative (recommended) SCART setup - as follows: 1. From the Sky receiver - connect SCART output 1 (Marked TV Scart) directly to a SCART input on your TV. If your TV has more than one SCART socket, check the manual and select a socket that accepts RGB signals. (Some SCART sockets are Composite only). 2. From the Sky receiver - connect SCART socket 2 (Marked VCR Scart) to a SCART socket on the VCR. If the VCR has more than one SCART socket, check the VCR instruction manual. The VCR scart socket must be bi-directional (because it must be able to receive AV signals from the Sky receiver. During playback, it sends AV signals to the TV - via the Sky receiver). As well as fewer switching problems, this configuration will often improve picture quality, because the RGB signal passes directly from the Sky box to the TV. During play-back of a tape recording, the composite video signal overrides normal output from the Sky receiver and passes through the Sky box to the TV. If neither of these suggestions works for you, programme your Sky remote control to select AV input on your TV. You will find instructions at http://www.burgins.com/skydigital (the relevant section is headed "resetting TV macro"). In TV mode, keys 1 - 9 (and 0) on the Sky remote, perform the same functions as the equivalent keys on the TV remote. The "help" key on the Sky remote control performs the same function as the AV key on the TV remote. It follows that if you incorporate the "help" key in the TV macro, the Sky or TV Guide keys should force the TV to switch to AV input. |

I think you will find a setting on the Panasonic TV which allows you to have AV automatucally selected on startup. |

I love these forums! As a total techno dunce I have tonight managed to
locate my code for sky remote control and reset it when my son suggested we needed to replace the 'RCU' (I even learnt this tonight!), AND just sorted (from this thread) that the scart lead was in the wrong place and that is why I have had to manually select AV every time I needed to get sky! It helps that I could not sleep so am doing this at 4 in the morning - normally NO PATIENCE for this kind of thing. I am so chuffed!! What has struck me is how the experts make the time to help others out so saving us time, money and frustration. It has not been easy tonight - a case of sorting the wheat from chaff etc, but WHAT A RESULT.. url:http://myreader.co.uk/msg/12509818.aspx |
