Sky+ needs a twin LNB (for full functionality although I have
recorded with just a single LNB input, you need the twin
LNB to record one channel and watch another) and a
120 quid a year subscription to enable the record capability,
Even if the box comes with a card, if the subscription
isn't being paid it reverts to the free channels and no
recording mode.
Since only an idiot would pay 120 quid a year just to record
the free stuff, you would be better off with a Freeview receiver,
and wait a few months until Freesat boxes arrive with
EPG record link capability.
