Electronics manufacturer Panasonic has built text-to-speech functionality into 30 of its television models, designed specifically to help blind and visually impaired users, making them the first such TVs to become available on the UK general

Sound level in films spoiled by the music being louder than the speech. by Mick.
Hi all, I have a SAMSUNG UE40D5520 40" Full HD LED TV and normally record on a Humax HDR-FOX T2 Freeview+ HD Twin Tuner with 1TB Recorder. I like to watch movies but find following the plot difficult because the music is normally louder than the speech! Am not bothered by the adverts being louder as I always fast forward through them.

Tonights Panorama on BBC1 by news.plus.net
Hi, Panorama is very much worth a watch on iPlayer because they are making lots of juicy allegations about Sky and NDS organising the cracking and release to the wild of the encryption algorithims to the ITV Digital systems, therefore facilitating the collapse of said ITV Digital.... Discuss. Rob.

Partial Installation by Geoff Lane
My daughter has just moved and the aerial extension is a real bodge job. The current signal strength is erratic so needs attention but as the house is under extensive redecoration she does not know where the TV will end up. Would an aerial installer be prepared to install a new aerial but just feed the cable into the loft space or do they need to actually connect the cable to a TV.

Today's Mendip rescan by Rick[_10_]
The channel reorganisation was due to have been completed by 6.00 AM this morning, however I've checked out a Grundig and Humax receiver and I can't find any missing channels, they all appear to be in their usual places, despite the Humax telling me that a full rescan is required, anyone know what's going on?

Sony 32EX503 - motion artifact by viewer[_3_]
Overall I'm delighted with my Sony 32EX503 with its HD, 100Hz, ethernet and USB input. My only criticism is (example): Cricket (I only have Sky Sports in SD, via VM). Batsman hits ball along ground for 4. Camera follows the ball. The ball looks fine, but the grass becomes a bit "clover" like. Is it the TV or inherent in the transmission ?

Magic Eye and Distribution Amplifier question by Malcolm H
My system consists of a Sky+HD box feeding 4 TVs via a distribution amplifier. I now wish to add 'Magic Eye' remote control for the Sky box to two of the TVs. The Magic Eye system requires 9v DC to operate, therefore the RF2 digibox output will be used, with power activated, and the distribution amplifier will be changed to a model with DC pass-through. The products will be from Antiference...

Flexible oval conduit? any such thing and suitable straight couplers? by Stephen H
I'm doing first fix in a house that has plasterboards on thermalite blocks. I would like to use oval conduit between the TV/Satellite/Radio/Telephone/Network wall points up to the loft. This conduit would go in between the plasterboard and thermalite blocks. I will cut out access holes in the plasterboard to clear battens/noggins/dot'n'Dab patches etc, I have access to upstairs floorboards...

BBC2 In orbit - how satellites rule our world by grimly4@gmail.com
I started to watch this programme but had to give up after ten minutes or so, as the presenter, with her thoroughly irritating habit of pausing, at the most inopportune moments, just mana ged to **** me off.

Crystal Palace digits by phil
None of the main muxes seem to be on this morning from CP, though some, like Pick TV and ITV3, are there. Analogue is OK. It's not the high pressure as there is 0% signal strength shown. I presume overnight work has overrun a bit. Phil

UFO! by Graham.[_2_]
Well I can't identify it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/g3zvt/6858091680/in/photostream/lightbox/ Any ideas? I'm located in Prestwich, 3 miles North of Manchester, and the object is low in the SE so perhaps it's over Droylsden or Audenshaw. It was caring red strobe lights as well as the glow so these are CAA law abiding L.G.M.
