Digihome PVR 160 more problems by
Jon Dennington[_2_]
Having updated the software on my Digihome PVR 160 and got all the
channels, I find that I can't instant record now. Although I have
rescanned and the channels are coming over well from the correct
transmitter I get the message "Unable to record x: Signal too weak"
Has anyone seen this before or is it a glitch of my OS upgrade, please
TIA

Bedroom TV with good(ish) sound by
Ian[_5_]
Looking for a basic 16" or 19" bedroom TV, LED, built-in FreeView. But
it must have a reasonable sound quality -- the cheapies sound very
tinny.
Recommendation anyone?

Rescan curios by
Jim Lesurf[_2_]
A while ago at least one mux changed the data stream and this caused my old
Nokia 221T box to cease being able to make sense of some stations. (I think
the change was the code rate.)
Out of curiousity, this morning I did a complete rescan to see if this
would fix the problem. It did. But it has thrown up an odd result I've not
previously encountered!
As usual I did the rescan in two steps.

here's where your money goes by
Bill Wright[_2_]
We are committed to pay a feed-in tariff of 45p/kWh for 25 years on
this. But these particular photovoltaic panels shouldn't cost us too
much, since they face slightly north of east!
The roof pitch is quite shallow so they will never even properly face
the low sun as it rises.
The main pic was taken at 11.55am.
The inset is from Multimap, and I assume straight up is north.

Best PVRs? by
Jon Dennington[_2_]
Hi
I wanted to get a replacement twin tuner PVR and was considering a
Humax, but have read that their menus are poor and they freeze a lot
(even the more expensive FOX T2
Has anyone used/got a PANASONIC DMRHW100 and would they recommend it?
Any other suggestions (need Freeview, twin tuner, 300gb min but HD not
necessary)

Successful manual Digihome OS update by
Jon Dennington[_2_]
This might help people who bought Digihome and other badged Freeview
hard disk PVR boxes based on the Vestel chipset which didn't update
after the switchover (such as from Argos, Currys etc)
My Digihome PVR 160 wouldn't scan for all new channels after the
analogue switchover and I was going to dump it and get a new one.
However, I have finally managed to up date it. The over air updates
had been...

Ferguson F3230LVD "error unable to access digital services" by
Geoff Pearson
A friend has a 2 year old F3230LVD TV which this week displayed the message:
"error unable to access digital services" and now has no channels. We are
past DSO so there is no analogue signal but when I retune, it searches only
analogue (it is supposed to do that then continue to search digital). As
the tuner passes across the UHF band there are the indications that it is
seeing a signal...

Motionflow by
Rob[_17_]
Wondering what people think of this?
My brother's just bought a 40" Sony TV with Motionflow, cost about £1000
he says. At first, it looked stunning. We were watching Four Lions (SD
DTV) and it looked completely different to my Panasonic LCD. Not sure
about 'better' though.

Santa on the roof. by
Brian Gaff
I posted a similar post to this yesterday but its been eaten.
Basically the drift was this. down my road is one of those families who,
when this time of the year arrives straps illuminated santas, and stuff all
over his house, including the roof. Luckily, these days other than the eyrie
glow as I pass by, I cannot see the tribute to third world illumination,
but it set me to wondering if,...

Ross SD kit for F1 next year / Panasonic Freesat HD TV by
larkim
I've got a Panasonic Freesat HD TV, working fine. To supplement my
BBC rations of F1 next year I've taken advantage of the B&Q £25 deal
on the Ross dish / STB etc.
I was wondering what the best way would be to switch between the two
dishes when I get the second one installed:-
- just use the STB provided by the B&Q kit
- somehow merge the downleads from both dishes into one cable to feed
into...

Who knows about USB plugs? by
Norman Wells[_6_]
I seem to be buying a few bits of kit recently, like a Kindle and a Sony
MP3 player, that come for charging purposes with a 240V mains plug
having a detachable lead. The end that detaches from the plug is a
standard male USB connector so that, if I want to, I can use it to
connect the device directly to a computer rather than the mains.
The question I have is whether these mains plugs are...

DSO options for the over 75s by
root[_2_]
Visiting aged relatives (A-Rs) yesterday, I was shown a support booklet
they'd got about DSO. For those over 75 (they qualify) there are
a set of subsidised options.
Top of the list is getting a Freeview box installed for £40.
However, A-R's location is in a dip in the landscape and terrestrial TV
coverage had never been good. All the houses in the area have high poles
attached to their chimney...
