part of screen missing by
Martin Carroll
Just taken delivery of Sky+ and am already very impressed.
I have a query though that I hope someone might help me with.
I have a standard 28" Sony TB and have set the display options to 4:3.
On some channels I have noticed that the left hand side of the screen is
slightly shot-off. It is most noticeable on Sky Sports News where the
text information on the bottom of the screen is missing the...

Pace DT210F by
Orange
I have just been checking out my new Pace Freeview receiver model DT210F, it
has twin SCART's phono and digital audio outputs, RF loop-through and
modulator, is wafer-thin and so far has been performing like a dream... if
it's reliable I think that Pace is on to real winner!

Rigger's Diary - off topic as usual by
Bill
I was talking to the farmer this morning as he put out an electric fence. He
was telling me that he has to recharge the battery every week, and I said that
didn't seem much life, what sort of battery did he use? Just normal car
batteries, he said. Since electric fences use very little power I thought it
seemed odd, then he said that of course the batteries were all scrap ones from
the local auto...

Pink Problem On DVD Player...SOLVED!! by
Freddie Perl
So I get this DVD player from Amazon, and I plug it in, and I get this
DVD from Blackstar (The Vampire Lovers based on Carmilla by Sheridan
Le Fanu) and bung it in, and the pic has a pink hue..the sexy vampires
are kinda pink!..purty, but pink!, :-( so I consult the newsgroups
(Google Groups), and I find it's a common problem, and one chap says
it could be scart pin (prong was license!) #15 (or...

There's no such thing as an answer? by
Fludge
Hi.
I have had some posts on here recently, talking about my bad reception and
my wish to sort it out, the problem being I'm in short term rented
accamodation and can only put whatever solution we decide on, in the loft.
After many great responses, for which I thank you all, I find that I am
still quite confused. I don't mind spending a bit of money, but because my
time here is short term only,...

Hi

have any idea how I can get it? I live in Wrexham area and think we are
covered by 3 transmitter areas, Winter Hill, The Wrekin and Moel-Y-Parc (not so
sure about this have trouble getting HTV & S4C). All other freeview channels

Help: Need a new TV by
Darren Harris
I have an old 19" Zenith (model SC1327W) I purchased about 18 years
ago, and have decided that it is time to get a new set. I've read the
pros and cons of various features and formats and wanted to get real
world opinions on several things. The kind of things that only
users(not the manufacturers) will truthfully tell you.
1) Is there really a big difference in picture quality between a flat
and...

Returning faulty goods by
austin500
I was in a large chain store today where someone was returning something
faulty after a couple of months use.The item had broken down and the
customer was told that the store was only liable for the first 28 days and
the customer would have to deal with the manufacturer of the product
himself.
I've always taken faulty goods back to the shop and got them to sort it
out, either by giving a...

cable question by
Dave Walker
Friend gave me drum of cable accidentally left by the sky man,
its made by cable and wireless, labelled digital/satellite, BS EN 50117
H109F
Its white, bit stiff, solid inner, air spaced dielectric followed by a thin
foilish copper screen, then the normal braid.
Is this the right stuff to be using for wiring up my tv aerials and the
like? Is it similar to the `holy` CT100 ?

Unwanted Signal by
niall
Hi group,
My TV reception is actually too good at the moment, so I'm receiving signal
from nearby transmitters in addition to Crystal Palace (my intended source).
The unwanted frequencies are disrupting other UHF channels in the system
which are being used. I've done my best to manage the UHF channels (using
taboo.exe, in particular), but now I want to try to remove the unwanted
signal from the...

Aerial cable paranoia by
Des
A few months ago I had a new aerial installed. I now have a cracking
picture on both analogue and digital.
I got the installation engineer to run the cable through the loft, so
that I could install a distribution box for other tvs in the house.
However, I remember at the time, that the guy recommended not putting
anything (connectors, wallplates etc) in between the aerial and the
set top box....

WinTV PVR-PCI and Mpeg2 recording by
Dave Adamson
Hello people.
Just clutching at straws for a solution really.
I picked up the Hauppauge WinTV PCR-PCI card recently and am quite impressed
with it.
However, when I record MPEG2 files to hard drive, there's this little silly
square of 9 smaller squares that flutters across the screen randomly. It
doesn't happen when I record to MPEG1 files.

Rogues' Gallery - new additions by
Bill
Roll up! Roll up!
The webmistress has recently doubled the size of our Rogues' Gallery. It's
mad, it's bad, and it's really rather sad, but all these pictures were taken
this year and they all show diabolical aerial and dish installations that
someone has paid good money for.
Invaluable for those contemplating a visit by the local installer - at least
you'll know what to look out for.
