Humax 8000 (and other PVRs) by
Graeme
How easy is it to increase the size of the hard disc? I guess any warranty
will be void in doing so.
Are the HDs readable in a PC, do they have any recognisable file system?

OTish: Fixed cable colour changes by
Ian.2
Just found out about this today, and thought it might be of interest to some
here who might do the odd spot of mains electrical cabling work etc.
http://www.iee.org/cablecolours
Basically, the colours of fixed cables (not appliance flex for your TV or
kettle) are changing to harmonize with Europe, and they're changing to match
the colours we've had in flex for 30 odd years. So instead of Red,...

Connecting DVD, Sky & VCR to TV by

I've spent this afternoon trying to get these to work with each

up so that I can record either from the TV or Sky, & I want to be
able to use the DVD player by simply putting it on if possible. So
far I've managed to get the TV working & Sky to display if I view
it on another channel. I...

Freeview in the wilds of Suffolk - ITV Channels missing by
Adrian Brentnall
HI All
I posted here a couple of months ago about the possibility of getting
Freeview out here on the Suffolk coast - thanks to everybody who
responded with advice / suggestions etc.
So... after a long wait g... I finally picked up a STB (Sagem) and
Unix wideband aerial - and connected everything up. Didn't spend a
fortune - on the grounds that it was an experiment, rather than a
final...

PVAStrumento working properly on Nebula recordings? by
mark
Has anyone had any luck getting PVAStrumento to work reliably processing
Nebula recordings?
I am currently using 2.1r7 with "relaxed video PTS checks" checked, but the
audio handling seems not to work - it sounds like small chunks of audio are
repeated, creating an intermittent stutter/echo effect.
My recordings may be towards the more error-prone end of the spectrum, but
that's what this app...

My Pace Twin HDD receiver has died! by
Stradling, Ed
Last night the machine crashed and now despite being unplugged and plugged
in again, just shows me the letters "Inct" as it does when it first boots
up.
Has anyone suffered this before and if so do you know how to fix it?
thks
I never did get the problems with occasional picture freezing sorted out

Hi, would anyone like to share a consistent method of compressing (UK) DVB

I'm capturing and converting to avi using DrDivx with a 100% success rate
since working out how to do it....
I've put up a really bad web-site detailing how I do it. Making sites is
not my forte, so please excuse the state of it.

Hi,
I have one of the Thomson DVT1100 freeview/DVD boxes and ever since
downloading a software upgrade about a fornight ago and resetting the

whatsoever, I am unable to eject the DVD tray but all the lights still
come on on the front display! Has anyone else suffered this kind of
problem or found a workaround? Tried disconnecting...

Advice on buying Freeview box by
Captain Mushroom
Hi,
My father has just bought a new TV and realised how bad the analogue reception at his house is.
I lent him my old Pioneer OnDigital box to let him see what the quality of Freeview is like (not the channel content, obviously :) )
He now wants to get his own Freeview box.
What would be the best box to get for the money?
The ones that he saw in the shops ranged in price from £50-£100.
Do any of...

Humax 8000t by
Muzz
Well I ordered one of these today from 24/7 at £144 incl P+P. I was
going to go for Sky+ with the £20 quid a month sub until I found out
that they wanted another £10 a month to switch on the record facility !
I went with the Hummy over the Pace twin for price and the fact that I
owned a Humax 5400 sat receiver for years and it was a great piece of
kit.
Are there any other advantages or...

Tessa Jowell asks for £300M for Switchover by
Ed
http://www.dtg.org.uk/news/uknews/-govt_bids.htm
The report thinks the advertising could cost £100M alone, at least
that should help ITV along!
The problem is will this contain any money towards setting up a FTA
DSAT system, and resolving the rights issues so that ITV, CH4 and Five
can broadcast FTA on satellite. For many people at the moment the
only choice if they want to go digital is to...

Anyone got BAD experiences with either of these? I'm considering getting a
Humax 8000T, and these sites only differ in price by 1p (although QED say
2yr warranty, and 24-7 say 1yr).
