Digital Media Receiver for images and some video by Scott Meyers
I'm looking for an easy and inexpensive way to display on my TV the photos (primarily) and video (occasionally) I have stored on my computers. There seem to be a lot of digital medial receiver products available, but most reviews focus on audio issues (e.g., support for various audio formats, support for playlists, etc.), and I don't care about that. My primary interest is in being able to...

Panasonic DMR-EH50 DVD recorder dodgy RGB output? by Roderick Stewart
In article , Yossarian wrote: Just bought this unit which is supposed to allow progressive output to my Panasonic plasma panel. So when I connect it via a RGB cable, all I get is a green display. I have either done something basically dumb on the connection front or the thing is a nail. Anyone got any ideas? Probably nothing wrong, just...

Aerial recommendation? by squelch41@hotmail.com
Hi, I need an aerial for my freeview box. I am a student so cant mount it outside but I am in Southampton and have a pretty stong singnal - currently using a broken set top aerial with built in booster which is OKish on most multiplexes most of the time. My room is upstairs so I was thinking of buying an outdoor aerial and placing in a corner of my room. I was wondering if anyone had...

Sony STB and DMTECH LCD Receiver by John montgomery
Hi, Have just purchased a Sony VTX-D800U Freeview STB, which works great. Unfortunately the Sony Manual does not provide codes to enable the Sony Controller to operate my TV an LCD DMTECH DML-4117W, although all common TV makes are catered for. Can anyone provide the info? I know I should ask Sony but I'm sure that this NG should be quicker. regards John Montgomery

Belling Lee UHF plugs by spock
Hi, Can anyone give a definitive way to attach Coaxial Aerial plugs (Maplin part FD85G) to CT100 cable? I've always found them a bit suspect particularly the braiding. How is the braid supposed to attach to the claw thingy? I notice the copper foil has a Mylar insulating layer on the INSIDE, so if it is folded back it will insulate itself from the claw! How much of the copper braid should...

Another Cheapo DVD Recorder @ Asda by Jim
Local Asda were selling (alongside the cyberhome models) a Pye PVR645 DVD recorder today @ £119.95. Can't find much info on the web about this one, though I understand that Pye are made by Philips now. Richer Sounds sell the same model for £109 (on their Irish website) .... Anyone got one - any comments ?

Some Freeview channels no longer free? by KDM
We have had a Phillips STB for a couple of years and when I set it up we received Sky News, Sky Sports News and UKTV History. I do not make a lot of use of the STB (or TV in general) but when I scrolled through the digital channels recently those particular channels just showed an image of a red TV with grey bars across it's screen. Has there been a change in status of these channels? The...

Hidden menus in Freeview STBs by FVU
Do many Freeview STBs have hidden engineers / service menus that can be accessed with a combination of remote keys ? In particular, I'd be interested in switching off MHEG to get rid of all that "press red" crap, and simply use 701, 702, 705, etc as regular channels. My box is a Pioneer DBR TF100. TIA

Freeview Channels Missing by RojanUK
Hi, I've recently purchased a Goodmans Freeview set-top box and scanned for channels. It instantly found almost all channels and every single one of them has a very strong signal. The odd thing is though that I can't get ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, Channel 4 or E4 at all. I can, however, get E4+1 with a strong signal. Of all the channels that I might've suspected that could have trouble with reception, I...

Sky Digital on a Large Dish? by K
We are in the process of buying an appartment on a small development. All the rooms have connection points marked 'Sat', and there is a dish on the building outside, but it is a round dish as opposed to the odd-shaped small dish you see now on peoples houses. Can these larger dishes get Sky Digital, or would we need to have a seperate dish installed? The property was only build 2 years ago.

Setpal Problem - Lost Channels by Sam
For some reason, my Daewoo Setpal box presented me on two occasions yesterday with a channel update scan during the second of which it seems to have lost channels 3 and 4. Despite doing a number of manual channel scans, I cannot seem to retrieve these channels. any ideas how to resolve this? It's not that I have de-selected them as favourites - they really do not seem to be there. -- Sam
