Crown Court "Film?" by Martin Jay
Anyone know why these Crown Court credits begin with the text "Crown Court Film?" Yes, I appreciate that the opening sequence is shot on film, but I cannot understand why it would be mentioned in the opening credits. The YouTube video is a mishmash. Perhaps this portion of it came from a Crown Court film. Was there one? Oh, and were judges really given a police escort to court during the

Triax TD series dish owners..... check your nuts...... :-) by Stephen[_3_]
I'm the owner of a Triax TD110 which I put up last year. This has a dish face that is held on using 6 bolts and nuts. I installed this last year and I made sure all the nuts and bolts were all tight. I was in the garden today where I saw a bolt and nut on the patio underneath the Traix TD110 dish. I got the ladders out and found that there were just 5 nuts and bolts instead of 6 holding the...

Pioneer Freeview STB hosed by DSO by Fred
The Pioneer DBR-TF100 was always considered one of the best boxes. Not any more ! Two colleagues of mine with the same box are experiencing the same symptoms on Sandy Heath BBC and ITV/4 multiplexes post DSO - ie a freeze / glitch like marginal signal about every minute. And it is not low signal, overload or multipath. (Signal is 91 which I think is high as it gets, quality 100%.) One of said...

Surprising lack of comprehension by Bill Wright[_2_]
A month ago I sold a Humax Freesat PVR to a friend who had previously had one of the old Humax HD Freesat boxes, this latter item having expired prematurely (it has yet to be looked at but the guy just wanted to buy new). He collected the box from me and his son installed it. No need for any dish work because he already had two feeds, due entirely to my foresight. On Monday he rung up to invite...

Why can the BBC not get simple facts even about its own broadcastscorrect? by J G Miller[_3_]
From http://www.bbc.co.UK/news/uk-13150117 Jchannon: Will the royal wedding be in HD or just upscaled to BBC One HD? It won't, as you suggest, be filmed in HD. == filmed? Jchannon never suggested it would be filmed. Since when (Baird?) has live television been filmed...

BBC One HD in Scotland by Scott[_2_]
How come STV manage to show the Scottish programmes in HD in Scotland and BBC One cannot, even though they both use the same multiplex? (I know there are sometimes advantages in having the choice, but that is a different issue.)

HD Set-top Box - Any Recommendations? by Norman Wells[_5_]
We've just gone completely digital in the Anglia area (Sandy Heath transmitter), and now have some HD channels available over Freeview. I can't get them, though, because I don't have an HD decoder. I don't have any great desire to record HD transmissions, so probably only need a simple set-top box. Any recommendations anyone? And how much should I expect to pay?

I've been trying! by alan.holmes
And I can be very trying at times! To get at subtitles on the dtv on my tv, but I cannot find a key that lets me do it, and the instruction manual has been carefully filed away where it will never ever be found again! So how the hell do I get at them? I have no trouble with the tvrecorder but the tv is driving me mad!

Television Mag by lopt@625.com
I am very confused after finding a forum "badged" as the "television magazine". After subscribing to the poper mag for many years (and working in the industry for DER, then self), and when it was tech at home then back to whatever etc, the forum deems I am not worthy to be a member? I say, stuff you! I moved on to servicing other fields of electronic equipment, making a very good living from it...

TOT Ni-Cads and NiMh by Bob[_7_]
I have been asked to check a load of those solar powered lamps that come with spikes for sticking into the garden. Some have leaked but most seem to have completely dead batteries. Problem is I don't have any ni-cads, only nimhs, will these charge in the lamps or do I have to buy new nicads? It would be just as cheap to buy new lights and bin the old lot in that case but I hate to throw away...

DAB signal breaking up all the time by john brook
In north west london picking up the 'Magic' radio station my Sony XDR-S50 DAB radio receives the signal at 128k bps. But the signal strength (according to the radio) hovers around 4264 then 6871 then 88 and 90. And the strength of reception keeps moving up and down all the time. When its in the 4264 range the signal really breaks up and sounds terrible. Is it possible anything can be done...
