who would be right? by Paul Heslop
in an article in private Eye an issue or two ago it mentioned a 'special' offer on Sky subscriptions for folks living in the shadow of a stadium, possibly new Wembley or Arsenal's as it has been found that houses nearby can't get a signal for normal tv. Next issue someone writes in criticizing the mag for falling into the trap of believing the only digital tv available is Sky and all the good...

Freeview reception problem - new re-align aerial or replace? by BillL
Hello all, Just bought the cheapest Digifusion freeview box (25 from Currys Digital) but although some channels are perfect BBC1/2 BBC3/4 etc I cannot get Ch 4 or Ch 5 and several other channels. I'm in the GL4 area of Gloucester (very good analouge reception) and should be able to get freeview but may have required an aerial replacement. I did a google search for freeview reception...

Digital breakup recently in Guildford by David Hearn
I've been getting lots of pops and breakup on my Humax PVR9200T and also my Pioneer DBR-TF100. They're both fed from the same aerial and downlead. We're in Guildford with aerial pointing in the southern direction - so I'm guessing I'm off the local transmitter on the A31/Hogs Back which is just a few miles away. In general the Humax shows strength is about 75%, 100% quality, but sometimes...

AverTv DVB-T Volar USB digital receiver by Jackie
Hi I bought myself an AverTv DVB-T Volar USB digital receiver for my birthday and it works quite well. However if I scan for channels during the day any channels that only broadcast a night like ITV4 show up in the listings but I only get the sound and the picture window disappears when I try to watch them at night. The same happens when I scan for channels at night, I get ITV4 ok but the...

Advice needed - please!!! by teapot
I have recently been given as a present a Sony RDR HXD560 DVD recorder with a built in freeview tuner. The problem is that I am in a freeview blind spot and consequently cant seem to receive any signal, either analogue or digital into the dvd. Can anybody suggest a way that I can bypass the freeview tuner so that I can at least use the dvd recorder - or do I have to put the thing in the attic...

Just seen Blu-ray for real! by Ben
After what seems like years of reading about Blu-ray, I finally saw a real life Blu-ray player for sale today in John Lewis - I was actually in there looking for new pillows, but you know what its like ;-) They had three HD demos running; Blu-ray, DVD (presumably DivX), and BBC HD Preview. The Blu-ray demo was absolutely gorgeous, the DVD demo was good, but the BBC HD preview was ****e! It...

Microsoft ClearType and HDTV standards interpolation by Agamemnon
Yesterday night I installed Internet Explorer 7 and when I ran it it went to a setup screen which had ClearType set as default so I wondered why that was when I was using a CRT monitor and I thought ClearType was only supposed to work on LCD screens using a digital link or laptops. Anyway I went along with it and fine-tuned it to work on my monitor, since Microsoft said it could imporove the...

Is there a decent HD/DVD Recorder with Freeview, ethernet connection to PC, pref non-proprietary HD Format? by Java Jive
I'm reappraising the (too much) AV kit I have here, and am realising that I have begun to use the Panasonic HD/DVD Recorder almost exclusively for CCTV. This may seem strange for (at the time of purchase) such an expensive piece of kit, but there are a number of problems in using it for other purposes. 1) It has a non-standard HD format, so you can't backup what's on the HD except via the...

Tuning In by Mel
My mum has a warfedale T1403 14" portable TV. It was recently given to her by a friend of hers but no instruction booklet came with it. A Google didn't throw up any help so does anyone on here know what the sequence is to get it into tuning mode. Or can you point me to a...
