New Freeview user by uradam
I have just been given a Pioneer freeview box as a birthday present. I currently have a TV, Video and DVD, anll separate units. FOr the life of me I can't figure out how to set these things up to work with each other. My Freeview instructions don't mention a dvd at all in their schematics. One of the problems is I don't know what stuff like AV or S-Video means. Does anyone know a great site, for...

SKY+ best option by Robin Smith
Currently have TV but the signal here is so bad and unpredictable I'm going to go for a SKY+ subscription as neighbours on each side get perfect Sky reception. Yes I've tried all the usual, like aerial cable, connectors antenna. We're just in a bad area and low down with a Leylandii problem to boot. So given I have a Humax PVR, SKY plus seems good. But apart from the regular FTV channels I only...

SONY RDR-HX910 by AJM
Somebody mentioned to me that the Sony HDD DVD recorder would be worth looking at. However, when I visited a Sony Centre I was told that it is not yet available. I then entered the model number into Google and found it advertised as being available from Pixmania for £480 plus £8-70 p&p. When I then tried to search for details from the Sony UK site no reference to this product could be found....

Bush service menu WS6680SIL by Blug
Hi guys My 9 month old son got hold of the remote and managed to access (and screw up) everything in the service menu. I have trawled the internet and groups to find out how to access it, but you can find any model except this one. I phoned Bush (Alba PLC) and they are ... erm not so clued up as to know what I am asking for, so they "cant help me".

Sony IDTV probs by Paul Healy
Hi My parents bought a Sony 28" IDTV but cannot receive Channel 5 and some of the freeview channels are 4:3 ratio not widescreen and can't be changed. They have a pace twin on their bedroom portable TV that gets channel 5 with no problem plus all the other channels. Any ideas what causes this?

DTT reception via computer by wrightsaerials@aol.com
I'm getting two new computers soon. As everyone on this newsgroup knows my knowledge of all things computer is negligible. However I would like the computers to receive and display DTT. They will in any case have the ability to receive analogue UHF TV and baseband PAL, but I'd like DTT as well. What do I need? And has anyone any other brainy ideas about TV-type things I might include on my new...

More4 FTA Satellite? by MJ Ray
More4 will launch unencrypted next month. When will C4 go fully FTA with its channels? (or allow non-Sky FilmFour subs) They extended their encryption contract to Oct 2008 a few months ago. Quelle: www.transponder-news.de http://forum.transponder-news.de/viewtopic.php?t=3875

PC DVB cards by Not Me
Hi, I have a (lifeview) 'DVB-T' card in my PC running media centre. I understand that all DVB is not the same, so if I decided to switch to cable, would I also require a new card? (for running the cable signal through my PVR). I ask this because my old analogue tuner would apparently handle cable/aerial transmissions through the same hardware, but now I'm seeing a range of dvb-t, dvb-s...

New BBC News 24 DOG by David Glover
BBC News 24's "red square" DOG seems to have disappeared at some point today, to be replaced with a rather poorly done standard "white text in the top left corner" affair. Pics: http://homepage.mac.com/mwongozi/things/news24dog1.jpg http://homepage.mac.com/mwongozi/things/news24dog2.jpg Thoughts:

What happens when analogue is switched off? by ron
Hi I get my TV from a transmitter in Perth which only transmits analogue TV. When the analogue transmission is switched off will it start transmitting digital signals, or will it be used for something else? Thanks Ron

How to Stop Freeview auto Switching by richard.lister@calderdale.gov.uk
Hi, I have Freeview STB, VCR, and TV all set up ok. TV switches automatically to correct AV as soon as power on STB comes on. Out of interest - how could I watch channels 1-5 while recording a freeview channel? There does not appear to be any way of getting the TV onto a different AV. tia,

Reception differences between 2 freeview devices on same Aerial? by Vince
I have a few questions that I thought I might pose to this group, if I may :-) I have an ALBA Freeview box plugged into the TV which was a replacement for a Goodmans box. Both of these used the same Aerial, which gives excellent reception on all available channels, with signal levels up around 90%. The other day, I purchased an Artec T1 USB Box, with a view (no pun intended!) to...

NTL connection in a flat, no Freeview by Spence
It seems that my sisters new (rented) flat has a NTL wallbox that can only provide analogue reception for the 5 channels (plus some other fluff such as ITV2 and News24). There is no ability (as mentioned in other posted elsewhere) for Freeview. What I don't understand is how this tallies with the Governments plan for analogue switch-off. Clearly once this happens people in flats such as my...

caching streaming tv possible? by -keevill-
I am trying to watch tv online using http://www.kikugamo.com/tvonline2.html However my Internet connection is not really good enough and I get periods of buffering every few seconds. Is there a way to change any settings on my machine perhaps in the IE6 where it would cache larger amounts so that the broadcast would be watchable.? In much the same way as you can set Real Audio player to cache...

Remote Control Recommendation by George Woodbine
What do you guys believe is the ultimate remote control? I've tried a load of these all in one things, and the buttons are just never labelled right for your different equipment. Something like the Sony RM-AV3100 is possibly getting there, but the buttons aren't fully customisable. I've a no-name variation of this remote with a full touch screen, but it's similar to the Sony in that you...

OT - Gmail Forwarding & POP3 by DAB sounds worse than FM
Has anybody else had problems with Gmail forwarding email and getting Outlook Express to connect to the Gmail server using POP3? I've had a Gmail account supposedly set to forward all email to my virgin.net email address. I think it managed to forward one email once. Today I've gone into Mail Settings and changed the Forwarding and POP Settings in Gmail to enable POP download instead of...
