Scart Adapters by Gabba24
Can anyone help? I got a Ferguson 5 in 1 scart adaptor to attach my Sky box & Xbox to my TV. When I connected the two devices, the sound through the sky channels became very poor. Anyone know the reason for this?? N.

Adverts on ITV3 by eadg
Just surfing the freeview channels and waiting for a film to start on ITV3, one of the adverts was for Imodium - "cure that diarrhoea!", followed closely by one for Sainsbury's "Christmas Log", complete with full screen photo of said log. Put me off my dinner. -- SR

Satellite dish - not necessary? by Blair
Having tried to follow what was being said in Riggers Diary I am confused. Bill Wright (Riggers Diary)stated that a dish was not required in a flat with a common aerial system All you need is a flylead fitted between the TV and the box A person I know locally who lives in a flat with a common aerial and who is not allowed to have an outside aerial, approached Sky and they told her she required a...

CT100 in white? by Gordon Hudson
I am looking for a 100m drum of CT100/FT100 type cable in white rather than black. The only whyite stuff I have seen is on ebay from someone who does not seem to deal in stuff like that so it might not be good enough. I want decent quality cable. My usual sources only have it in black. Maplin had it priced at £999 per reel but only had it in black anyway. Interestingly B&Q have it in black but...

Digital TV compatable aerial by Dave {ð¿ð}
Went into the Maplin store on the Bridge Retail Park in Telford today to enquire about a Digital compatible TV aerial. I was surprised by the lack of knowledge that the assistants have. I asked one "if I live just 5 to 8 miles or so from the Wrekin Transmitter do I require an aerial recommended for strong to medium reception areas or medium to weak reception areas?". He said that he did not...

It's time to ban widescreen. by half_pint
Due to it's inherent lack of height a widesceen picture is tremendously wasteful in terms of energy usage and bandwidth. Typically half of the image displayed is wasted which means a widescreen TV uses approximately twice as much energy a more sensibly sizeed screen (4:3 for example). Also from a bandwidth point of view about twice as bandwidth is needed to display a given number of channels. The...

New LCD - optimimum Picture settings? by Terry Pinnell
I've just replaced my ageing Mitsubishi 27" CRT with a 32" LCD, a Panasonic TX-32LXD52. At present, with no terrestrial digital signals (or Channel 5) receivable here in East Grinstead, I'm viewing the same basic 4 analogue channels as before. I'd much appreciate some recommendations on the 'best' Picture settings please. The default has contrast up at maximum, and brightness and colour mid-way....

Connection problem with Panasonic DVD recorder - cant watch Sky by Ed
Help, urgently, please! I have set up my new Panasonic DMRES20 as per the manual, but have a problem - I cannot watch Sky programmes when recording anything, and unless I switch the DVD machine on and tune it to AV2 I dont get an RGB from the Sky box. The satellite decoder is connected to AV2 on the DVD machine, and AV1 goes to the TV as per the manual.

A good day for Freeview signals? by Donald McTrevor
Noticed that I am getting very good signals today. I am wondering if this is due to the weather or the time of year. I was thinking that perhaps with it being the 'holiday period' that there was less 'electrical noise' about to disturb my weaker muxes. I can even get a good signal on the Radio 5 live mux (BB4 etc) which is nice (don't really watch anything on this mux normally) and I can get a...

Best way to connect aerial cables by Mr Guest
I am in the rather interesting position of getting a Freeview box in the next few weeks, the one already downstairs has its own aerial and the other aerial that's connected to this room also connects to two other aerial points in the house. There is a splitter box on the wall outside with the aerial downlead going in and three cables going to the appropriate rooms. It doesn't have any power...

I get occasional lip synch problems with my (cheap!) DVD player. Very often if I stop (or pause) the DVD then re-start it, the problem disappears. Is this to be expected from low price players? Steve

topfield guides by Trevor Wright
I wonder if anyone can point me at some simple Topfield guides. I'm waiting for mine to arrive and have been reading the User Guide (from the toppy site, this is the official manual) and I find parts of it a little difficult to follow. Quite often it tells you how to do things without actually telling you what they are or why you'd want to do them. Does anyone know of an idiot's guide? --...
