Good Freeviews and PVRs for low signal strength?? by JimLad
Hi, Moved into a new flat and my Wharfedale DV832B (2 yrs old) works almost perfectly (the odd sound dropout and very minor freeze). However my girlfriend's Thomson box refuses to work. Called in the landlady's electrician who blamed the Thomson box so I bought an 80Gb Sagem DVR6240T from Argos. This has a signal strength indiator which shows 30-40% and Quality of about 40%. Can't get ITV...

digital subtitle font by Justin Thyme
Is the font for digital subtitles fixed by the broadcaster or is it the product of the display unit? My mother in law finds the font on their new Humax PVR much less easy to read than that of the analogue channels on the same TV. So is the font user adjustable? Many thanks

Televes mounting arrangement by Bill Wright
The first time I saw the new mounting method for the DAT 75 I seriously wondered if the installer had assembled the aerial incorrectly. I was surprised that the mast protruded between the elements and was so close to them. I took a photograph and put it on my website. http://www.wrightsaerials.tv/023dat75mastprox.htm However, it turns out that this is the 'official' method. Presumably...

Sky RF Out into Freeview by Geoff Lane
I've got a new Philips DVDR7260H DVD/HD recorder incorporating DVB tuner. The setup allows for 2 separate antenna inputs and shows a cable/satellite/antenna into one input with a Digital Terrestrial Antenna to the other input. There is a link cable if only one connection is made. I am wondering what is the purpose of the second antenna option.

When I watch analogue or VHS material it offers the following ratio settings: auto, 4:3, 14:9, zoom 14:9, zoom 16:9, full screen and panorama. When I view on one DVD player or a number of Freeview STBs I am offered the following ratios: auto, zoom 14:9, zoom 16:9 and full screen.

BBC ONE Leeds Fault by Mat Overton
Loss of sound on digital from Leeds Look North. Seems to be a major issue with silence followed by squeals glitches and the sound returning for brief periods. Caption apologising to "Digital satellite viewers for the fault", but what about us Virgin Media and Freeview (Emley) customers! Analogue sound fine. (Emley).

Ofcom and the Giant Digital Dividend by [email protected]
I've been reading around Ofcom's proposals to grab as much cash as possible from the sale of bandwidth following the digital switchover, both their own publications and views expressed on various groups and forums. What amazes me is that Ofcom's consultation process should start AFTER they've already formulated their proposals. This seems arse-about-face to me. Surely you should garner opinions...

firewire TV tuner by tg
I'm a big fan of firewire and I'm looking to buy a HD capable firewire TV tuner for my PC, preferably something that might be compatible with Vista, or if not Vista, at least WinXP Media Center Edtion. I've seen a few firewire boxes using google but I was hoping to hear from someone who actually uses one. Has anyone out there used a firewire TV tuner and care to give me feedback on if it was...

CBeebies logo by [email protected]
It goes without saying (though I will say it... ;) ) that I hate in- vision channel identifiers during programmes, usually referred to as DOGs. However, following on from their horrible twinkling Christmas effort, which animated the Cbeebies logo through December, it seems that we now need to be reminded that summer is on its way. Today, the regular CBeebies logo alternates cheerfully with a...
