Freeview pixelation by SteveT
I've been watching Freeview since it started, using a Pace STB. Had no problems unil recently. What happens now is that when I turn the thing on I get 5 mins of pixelation before the thing settles down & shows a picture. Sometimes it happens when changing channels too. I think the transmitter is Crystal Palace. Any ideas welcome. ColinM

Topfield/dvdr connections by Trevor Wright
I wonder if any kind soul can advise me how to connect my new dvdr (Panasonic ES30) to my tv and Topfield? At the moment I have two scarts; one running from the Topfield to the Panasonic and the other separately from the Topfield to the TV. There's no scart connecting the Panasonic to the TV. (There are various rf cables in place as you would expect). It seems to work but there are...

Daisy Chaining Loft Distribution Units by Geoff Lane
I'm looking to purchase a loft distribution unit, initially to supply three TVs with shortish cable runs but I may consider two further cable runs, one of which may be about 60 feet. I would also like the option of a return path for Sky routing. I've looked at the Proception unit from Blake http://www.blake-uk.com/prod_products_proception_promhdvr.aspx mainly because it looks easy to instal...

Tevion DVD Recorder help by BIGEYE
Bought a Tevion TDRD DVD4000 recorder. Problem with the remote control, in that some buttons on the RC is also interacting with my Toshiba TV. Anyone else had this problem? I can't get through to their support line, queued for half an hour then gave up. Is there a fix for this or should I be returning the set to Aldi? TIA

dual SKY remote by John Russell

Freeview receivers and BBC HD trial by gilesc
I've seen reports on the web in a number of places about people seeing the Freeview HD trial channels when they perform a scan. Does anyone know why it is that some receivers can detect the channels but some can't - I know the trial is restricted to London so I don't mean that. I've got a new(ish) DVB-T PCI card in my PC and that doesn't seem to be able to find the channel. I'm interested to know...

MORE4's DOG gone? by Heracles Pollux
Since the major reconfiguration on Thursday (closure of MORE4+1 on FREEVIEW and adding of the annual BB video stream, readiness of FilmFour on DTT), MORE4's DOG has gone. As of now, the MORE4 DOG is still off-air. I shall avoid repeating that I won't watch nor pay for any TV network exhibiting this severe technical fault, etc, etc, blah, blah, blah. My policy remains as of 1998.

Crystal Palace Mux 2 by Roger K
I have a Grp A aerial on a 10 ft pole on the chimney feeding a Daewoo DS700 Freeview STB via an amp and splitter. I'm in Hertfordshire receiving Crystal Palace. Mux 1 (BBC) is usually good to excellent with few fluctuations in signal strength, but Mux 2 (ITV/C4) varies from reasonable to awful. Given that both multiplexes are transmitted at the same 20kW ERP, and they are pretty close in...

Internet radio in the UK by Agamemnon
Does internet radio in the UK come under any form of regulation from OfCom or the copyright bodies ie. PRS, PPL and MCPS and if so what are the rules for playing copyrighted music if the station is internet only. Are there international arrangements on paying royalties which are recognised by UK law or can you more or lass play what you like or do you have to make separate arrangements with...

Top-up TV on Freeview by Roger Mills
I'm fairly new to Freeview, having inherited a STB (Alba) less than a week ago. I'm trying to understand how - if at all - additional pay-for-view channels can be obtained. For example, when I select channel 17 in the EPG (UKTV Gold) it displays a little key icon - presumably indicating that it is locked, and requires a payment to unlock it. Am I right in thinking that the STB needs some...

Chimney mounting an aerial by zikkimalambo@connectfree.co.uk
I did mention this a few days ago, but I think I managed to insert it into another thread rather than creating a new one. Given a situation where the easiest means of mounting an aerial is to a chimney, why do most installers seem to prefer drilling and fitting brackets rather than using a lashing kit? I would have thought the cost wouldn't be much different, and surely it would be much easier...

HD Preview on Sky News by Tony\(UK\)
Yesterday, Sky News had a feature of the new HD services, throwing away the comments about 'supply not able to keep up with demand'. The video of nature and footie shown on my telly was one hell of a lot better than their normal transmissions, so my question is, as I do not have a Sky HD box, why was the picture sharper, clearer and the colours more enhanced? Surely if they can do this on a...

Farwell More4+1, welcome LCN 305 by Peter Duncanson
More4+1 has gone. LCN 305 has arrived. Big Brother is now live on LCN 305. A channel rescan is necessary to get this channel. It is accessed using the red button when on E4, or selecting 305 directly and switching on subtitles to get rid of the mheg telling you to go to E4, etc. -- Peter Duncanson

Not that I'm easily distracted but by Mo Childs
I was filling the bike up early this morning when a girl got out of the car on the next pump, pencil skirt, tight blouse, net stockings, spike heels. Anyway as I was saying. I ended up paying for more petrol than I managed to put in the tank. -- Mo

Slingbox launch in the UK by Adrian C

Mac/Pc PVR software/hardware with CAM support for Top-Up TV??? -any? by Kinesin
I'm trying to find that mythical solution of computer based PVR that can record TUTV via CAM and need help! I don't have a TV, but current use a analogue PVR250 in my Win2k box to watch TV. Ideally I want to be able to watch/record Eurosport (think MotoGP, but top-up TV only). With CAM's been PCMCIA can I purchase a PCI PCMCIA slot, for use with a TUTV CAM? What software is required to get...

HDTV... anyone but Sky? by Dan
Hi there, Owing to the fact Sky are charging an overwhelming amount for their HD service and have confirmed they will fail to deliver in time (even to those who paid to pre-order), I was wondering if there were any other HD services available? I wouldn't mind watching the World Cup in HD, but are there any other FTV/FTA channels to look out for, outside of Sky's offerings?

Best freeview Box by Privacy
I am quite new to freeview, after migrating from from on-digital a few years ago. I have been with sky, BUT now looking to go with freeview (I know I can get it on sky BUT) I was just wondering what is the most reliable/popular box to purchase also which to avoid. Cheers Pete
