Apparently the Panasonic DMRES20D DVD-recorder with Freeview is now
available at various online stores (like Unbeatable, Electrical Discount UK, LXDirect etc), prices around £270-£300. Also listed as 'In Stock' on the Panasonic website: http://shop.panasonic.co.uk/invt/DMRES20D |

Also listed as 'In Stock' on the Panasonic website: http://shop.panasonic.co.uk/invt/DMRES20D I wonder when they'll launch one with a HDD. I don't understand the logic of manufacturers: Sony have one model that has Freeview and DVD (but no HDD) and another with DVD and HDD (but no Freeview). There are various PVRs with Freeview and HDD but no DVD. Now Panasonic have brought out a Freeview/DVD alongside their DVD/HDD models. Why has no-one yet brought out a model that contains DVD, HDD and Freeview? I'm delaying buying until one comes out, because I don't trust my OnDigital box to last much longer: the front panel regularly locks up and stops responding to signals from the remote even though it happily carries on decoding digital TV. |

Why has no-one yet brought out a model that contains DVD, HDD and Freeview? Sony are bringing out a new flagship model in October that has a 250GB HDD/DVD DL recorder with Freeview. It is replacing the now defunct RDR-HX1000 Providing this does cut and divide and variable bit rate recording this should be one on the hot list. Steve |

Don't worry, it'll be obsolete at analogue switch-off. Rod. |

news:42d9119f$0$27197$ed2619ec@ptn-nntp- Why has no-one yet brought out a model that contains DVD, HDD and Freeview? The manufacturers deliberately drip-feed new features in order to milk the maximum possible amount of money out of the public. Each new feature stimulates another round of sales. And you can be sure that all the hardware and software 'hooks' for the extra goodies are in there from day one, to make it very simple and cheap to enhance the products later on. Marketing, they call it. The *******s. Staiger |

Why would you need a twin-tuner in your recorder? We all used single tuner
VCRs for years without complaining! "Scott" wrote in message ... On 16 Jul 2005 03:37:13 -0700, wrote: Looks like a singe tuner, which is pretty limiting and will be even more limiting at analogue switch-off. |

(Actually Amstrad used to make a twin deck VCR - but I think that only had a single tuner, didn't it?) -- Max Demian |
