It's broken by design then. A fundamental property of a typeface is
to be able to differentiate different characters.

It's broken by design then. A fundamental property of a typeface is
to be able to differentiate different characters.


With Arial, there is no difference* between the characters of a small
ell and a big eye. However if I type llllll and IIIII, the spacings of
the latter (big eye) are distinctly wider.
*Well, maybe the big eye character is just possibly that teeniest little
bit infinitesimally wider.
