We've just been watching the BBC news from Hannington on BBC1. At the
end of the main channel Huw was joined by a guy from News 24, instead of
BBC South. So we got the national newspapers instead of the local news.
Switching channels away and back showed the correct BBC South channel
ID - so WTF?

It wasn't just Hannington. We got News 24 from Midhurst as well. Like
you, channel info said it was BBC South.

The Beeb now use News 24 (rather than BBC London News) as the network
sustaining feed during the evening regional opt slots. Southampton
failed to opt out, it was as simple as that.

Looked a bloody mess didn't it, crashing out of the sports news, into
the 'proper' BBC 1 weather which of course we already just sat through
on News 24 !!! Totally amateur procedure

That's no surprising, the Oxford studio output, is routed via
Southampton, then back to the coding and mux centre in London, and then
to the Oxford Tx.

Looks as if BBC Southampton had some sort of major systems failure

Spies say control system computer failure on the opt out system and
backup machine not working...
