A new service identifying itself as Racing UK has appeared at LCN 116 on the Arqiva B mux UHF channel 48 on Sandy Heath. Just a blank screen at the moment and the EPG says no info available. Could it be this lot? http://www.racinguk.com/ -- Ken O'Meara http://www.btinternet.com/~unsteadyken/ |

Could it be this lot? http://www.racinguk.com/ I'm sure it is - the MHEG screen has the same logo as that website. It's not a 'real' channel - it's part of the 'Connect' stable (LCNs 113-115) who provide streaming tv channels via your internet connection. This is why the MHEG screen says 'launching on Freeview HD'; the programming isn't HD (almost certainly), but HD tvs are obliged to have both an internet connection and the MHEG software which Connect's IPtv uses. There really is a lot of dross on Freeview. I mean, it surely cannot be that
everyone is sitting there wanting to buy naff jewelry while using Ideal Worlds gfacial massager and Qvcs dodgy clothing sales seem just too hard to take. Incidentally, what is the point of all those closed off channels. How does one know how to get them? Nothing seems to be in the program guide. I think that it's a "real" channel, just not a real one on Freeview. I believe that it's a subscription channel that you can get via satellite, in addition to as you describe via Connect. -- John Hall "The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who have not got it." You're right, of course - I did indeed mean that it wasn't 'real' on Freeview/DTT in the sense that it wasn't (won't be - it hasn't started yet) transmitted over ye olde Hertzian ether. You're welcome - and thank you to you for flagging it up. But you don't need an HD tv to see the MHEG screen which I described - I'm seeing it on my SD Sony Bravia. Mind you, my Topfield 5800 PVR *doesn't* show the MHEG screen properly - but it's a bit flaky about MHEG anyway. André Coutanche |

I'm surprised that I couldn't find any news or announcements on the web about it, thought they would be making a song and dance. -- Ken O'Meara http://www.btinternet.com/~unsteadyken/ |
